    Hey All,

So last night I got a call from my sister asking for some advice about concealed carry holsters for women while jogging. She is living in Oregon (where we are from) and a major concern for joggers and bikers on nature trails is actually mountain lions - we used to hear about bikers or joggers getting attacked every year. Obviously, a CC weapon would also safeguard against dogs and "vagrants" as she exclaimed. She will probably carry a S&W .38SP, but I don't think buying a new gun is completely out of the picture.

    She sent me this:
    Pink Holster.jpg.jpg

and I sent her this back:
    Back Harness.jpg.jpg

The "problem parameters" are that it has to fit a woman, be secure while running, and reasonably fast to draw in the event of an attack.

I'm just curious if anyone here has been down this road before? I don't carry concealed when I run, so I've never put too much thought into it, but if I was in her position, I would definitely want to try to protect myself from a mountain lion.

Thanks in advance for any help that I can pass on to her.

    Ankle holster? :notsure:

Yours looks secure, is there a particular holster that does what you drew? The knife looks a little Rambo-ish in my opinion.

that back harnass thing is going to be the slowest draw and most dangerous (if not impossible) to reholster... i'd tend to think either a fanny-pack type rig w/ holster inside (they make special ones for CCW), or a good IWB or OWB holster worn on the belt...

I have no idea if what I drew exists. I was thinking about the parts of your body that move / oscillate the least while running. My conclusions were that one's head, upper back and torso move the least, while the hands/elbows and feet move the most. I was thinking that one would want to secure the weapon to a part of the body that doesn't oscillate very much to prevent chaffing and ensure a secure ride.

I know that knife is a little Rambo :) It was in response to her expectation to defend herself from a surprise attack with a mountain lion. Besides being badass and a little menacing, I'm not sure it would be really useful. It also completely defeats the "concealed" aspect...

I would argue that the draw time could [arguably] be faster than some fanny packs if one had to unzip the fanny pack first, as opposed to just reaching back and pulling. Also, unless the fanny pack was a holster itself, the weapon (such as the hammer) could get hung up on the way out.

Excellent point about re-holstering though; I never even though of that. My mind jumped from least oscillation --> back --> sword worn on back --> gun on back. I stopped thinking once the weapon was drawn and the attack successfully thwarted.

It was more of a joke, but I suppose it could have some potential if the kinks were worked out.

My wife is wanting to get the spandex shorts version.

Ive seen guys shirts with the sewn in holster as well at a gun show and they looked like a great idea. Some have velcro so you can angle it or move it from right to left if you want but those looked more cheaply made.

here is the better guys version
