So i went down to Toyota today and got a new oil filter. As i was leaving, i realized i needed to get a new crush washer. So i head inside, and speak to the parts guru and he hands me the crush washer and says, here just take it, dont worry about it. SO i get home, and the oil is draining now. I inspect the old washer and its way bigger so i decided to take some pics. I was wondering, does the circumference really matter? Should i use the old one, or the new one?

    The New one is blue.

As long as the inside diameter is the same I would use it. The parts guy here told me that the metal crush sleeves that come on it are one use only. But the new ones are able to be used multiple times...

the old washer sat so flush i had to tap it off. The new one slides on and off quite easily. When i torque it down do you think it will fit better? I just dont want to waste any money because of this stupid washer

It looks like the ones I have but I dont want to steer you wrong. Remember the old one had to be tapped off because it was torqued on there for a while...

That was what I was doing to the oil drain so I did the same with the rear diff and ended up leaking and had to get new ones for the diff. So now I replace every other time...

:) You can reuse the old crush washer. I would just take the side that was next to the oil pan and turn the washer over and reinstall it. If you can't tell which side was next to the pan, it won't matter. Changing them is good, but not as necessary as it is made out to be. It is made out of aluminum and will last for more than one use. It is like reusing a valve cover, you should replace them if you take off a valve cover, but if the gasket is not damaged, you can reuse it. Good Luck.

If the Inside diamater is not the same size do not use it and do not use the old one. They are one time use only parts.

Take the old one to a hardware store and buy a few off the shelf. Personally I wouldn't worry about it. As long as the replacement fits over the drain bolt and the washer is wide enough to cover the bolt head you should be plenty good.
