Ahhhh , got it.... good call on the trans flush, just did mine again, its awesome when the fluid you drain looks as clean as the fluid you're putting back in... James at the truck shop hooked me up hard with a quality transmission.....:)

So this thing is next month? If I am in town I would love to put on on off-roading clinic in a Jeep, lol.

Getting close to getting the suspension done, hope to work out a bunch of details today on it, so curious how its going to feel in the fast stuff!

Now its going to have almost 11" of front travel and has a short wheelbase, sounds like an altered dragster, going to be fun trying to keep it straight, want to race me some long travel tacos! :p

Well after I get the rear done too, going to be the same setup in the rear 12" DR coilovers and 2.0 hydraulic bumpstops all around. Sounds to me like I am going to start breaking stuff. Once the coilovers are on I will convert the short arm suspension to a mid or long arm setup and lengthen the WB a bit and she should really work well then.

Hope to see you guys out there, depends on if I am going to be racing or not then..gotta check the schedules.

Nice to meet most of you guys the other day at Fiesta Island (still have yet to meet you Doug). I want to go to Ocotillo. This will be my first time offroad in years and first time taking the Tacoma off the pavement. I'm 2wd and nervous as shit as I have no idea of the capability of my truck. It's also a year old and only has 16,800 miles so I'm afraid to damage her. What do you all think? Will I be cool in Ocotillo? I'm gonna have to get some straps and stuff. Let me know if I need anything (other than bigger balls).

That's what I'm saying too. I just want to get out into some dirt and fuck around. I know the thing won't be crawling up mountains or anything. I'm looking for easy trails to just go out and have fun on.

Which ones weren't nice to meet ???......:notsure:

Damned near a virgin huh ??? HMmmm me like virgins.....:p

Ok Brian just messin' with you....:D I didn't notice if you're a TRD or TRD sport or just regular open diff. 2x but no matter , no worries We've been able to take guys into places more 4x oreinted with no damage & Ocotillo is relatively a damage free zone (unless you like to mob, then all bets are off)

Temp wise in october its rare that it gets "typical desert hot" I thinking upper 80's low 90's max.. Recovery straps are always a good thing to have onboard (even if one doesn't offroad) You can go to Wal Mart & get the 8000 lb (I think it is) yellow nylon weaved one for about $25-$30,

If you have a towing package , you can get a reciever that is setup to accept a clevis hook for about $35 to $45, I think clevis hooks are about $20 (depends on how big) Of course bring plenty of water/food & beverages of your choice...

On the subject of beverages , some guys like to have a beer or 2 when we stop for lunch, take a break or whatever (so do I once in awhile)

But absolutely, without exception NOT while wheeling & if I catch anyone drinking & driving they WILL be removed from group/run & sent on their way, I mean I can't make them go home & they're free to drink & drive as much as they want but they'll be doing it by themselves, not in my group, not on my run, this has never been a problem but I have to throw it out there anyway

Passengers are exempt so I say "party till you puke" ...:D

A CB is almost a "must have" but if you dont have one it'll be ok....

Keeping TW members unstuck & damage free since 2009

I meant of the guys in this thread who were at fiesta island, it was nice meeting you lol. I got a TRD sport, limited slip. I found some recovery stuff on Cabelas.com (recovery strap, warn receiver shackle and a locking pin for the shackle) rather pricey... is orw or 4WP any better?
