Do you have almost like a grinding noise when turning one way? If its a wheel bearing, the bad bearing is in the opposite wheel from the way you turn that makes noise... If that makes sense. If you turn to the left and hear noise, it's the right wheel bearing. Reason for this is because the stress is being put on the opposite bearing. If you're going to do it yourself, it's easier to just buy the hub assembly and change it out, but like Johnny said, if you know of a place that can press it, it's cheaper. Hopefully this is not your problem! But if your trucks under warranty the dealer should take care of it. At least when my 2011 reg cab blew a wheel bearing they did... First dealer I took it to replaced the wrong side and told me they couldn't find the source of the noise... Second dealer replaced the correct side and laughed at dealer 1. Just make sure if you take it somewhere you trust, and remember my advice about the opposite sides!!

Thanks for the help! I'd likely do the work myself and have a shop just press in the bearing. I don't really have a shop that I trust and unfortunately my warranty is long gone! I've got a 2007 with almost 80k miles and no extended warranty.

I drove it this morning and was having trouble recreating the problem so I'm going to jack it up and see if there's any play at the wheel (that's a pretty fool-proof method of diagnosis). Seeing how the noise didn't occur this morning, if it is a wheel bearing, it can't be that bad yet so I've got a little bit of time.

I remember, just teasing you! When I get ambitious, I might take you up on that. I want to try my hand at painting at some point but need a workshop space to set up and might practice on the motorcycle first.

    http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2n...gation-android-radio-05-11-toyota-tacoma.html

looks pretty sweet. its like having a tablet computer mounted in your truck with a CD player/AUX Input/SD card reader..... its a little pricey though, even with the group buy...

3GS. Indestructible, can't kill it. Works excellent. Not activating the 4S till this thing quits.
