Pennzoil synthetic isn't the best, but jeez... the K&N is a $14 filter!

    Oops...

The banner says "many" include an oil filter valued to $11.99
The Mobil-1 and K&N are both more than that.

Also, it's a mail-in rebate, but it's not a check... it's an Amex debit card.

I've always used Pennzoil in my vehicles and never had issues. Mazda3 had regular oil changes with 90k miles before trading in and it never went in the shop.

Regardless, anyone have info on the deal? 1qt of the oil is $10...so it would be nice to get 6 quarts or 5.5 quarts.

Didn't say it was BAD oil... it's better than most conventional oils, maybe a hair better than Castrol GTX.
    The ad shows 5-quart jugs.

But where the hell are you paying $10/qt for any oil? That's Amsoil mail-order pricing!
Costco is only $36 for a 6-pack of Mobil-1 5w30, and they frequently run $10 instant rebates. I stocked up and bought 6 last time.

The Walmarts here have 5 qt jugs of Mobil One for I believe $28. I just buy it there unless I can hit a Costco sale.

Check out BITOG for reviews of oil. IMHO, Pennz Platnium is a good oil. I'd have no problems with using it or M1 for an 8-10K OCI to be honest. If you're talking about a 5K OCI though, just about any oil is "good enough".

Note that the $20 price includes rebate and it's highly unlikely you'll be able to get 5 rebates back. But $30 for the Pennz kit or the M1 kit is a reasonable price, although nothing spectacular. I pay $26 for 5qt jug of M1 0W-30 + $4 for a Toyota filter.

I think I paid $26 last time I got it. 10,000 mile changes are nice now that I am only driving a few miles a day to and from work

I use the Mobil 1 5+ quart jugs (it's like 5.1 quarts but tops off the V6 perfectly) and Toyota filters. I usually catch the Mobil 1 at around $25/jug and $4-5/filter at the stealership.

    this^^^ recently...I bought 4 jugs (and 2 one quart)
clearly says 5.0 US Quarts on the jug.

I buy the 5 quart jugs and a couple one quart. use the one quart for 2 changes.

I wish Toyota would have made the fill 5, or even 6 quarts...for simplicity.

You are correct @advance the 5.1 is $38 that's why I buy the 5.1gt jug at walmart for $26, Advance is a ripoff when it comes to oil.
