"foreign policy" and maybe even "rules of engagement" (or the suppression of...), ...it starts at the top... ;)

...it's quite evident, we are not respected there, and it's getting worse...

I thought about that too but I hoped they wouldn't be that stupid to allow them to take over the embassy to follow protocol

but you can bet your ass that if a bunch of americans stormed the whitehouse they would be shot on site

I guess the guards in yemen were just shooting into the air to try and scare them away...that worked well. They do these things bc they know the US wont do shit.

But what can we do? We're fighting a war that we can't win.

As good as it sounds... sticking our heads in the sand won't stop the crazies from plotting more attacks on the U.S. Look at the weak responses to the multiple attacks on the homeland during the 90's. Yes, the U.S foreign policy has been flawed but name a countries' that hasn't or better yet define some countries foreign policy at all? please. These "extremist" may not represent all of Islam but they do represent a group of individuals who are hell bend on a radical change and are using Islam to unsettle the masses and gain support. The sooner people realize it's not an individual religion (or lack of religion), political affiliation or foreign policy that drives these individuals, it's the fact that you don't believe what (insert "radical" Islamic group) does. I'm not trying to elevate the tension (if any) in this forum but merely stating my opinion.

I wasn't saying that we should ignore it, just that no matter what we do we will never win, so we need to pick and chose our battles.

I'm talking about on a more Larger scale. I think we need to hunt down the sons of bitches that did it but we don't have the resources to do that everytime Somebody blows up a building.

yeah, but we can't just let people blow up buildings either w/out recourse.... what we are seeing now is the result of a weak foreign policy based on appeasement and apology, rather than weilding the big stick... thugs respond to optics, they sense weakness....

First we engaged in military action and handed the country over to Al Qaeda. We did this despite many intelligence reports saying the Libyan rebels were Al Qaeda militants. Here's yet another lesson in blow-back. When we invade countries there will be unintended consequences and violence toward the occupiers.
