Reading another thread on here and they were saying it screws with your engine and mpg and power. Final result will happen tonight after i talk to my dad bout what would be best. Probably will replace it followed by a skid plate.

What part was incorrect? Id like to learn the correct infor about straight pipe replacing the Cat converter? Got a price from lesters for a OEM replacement Cat Converter plus labor for $700. Does that sound reasonable? Looking around and ive seen OEM Cat Converters go for more than that.

That straight piping does damage to your engine. I have no cats at all and have been so for a while. As for power and MPG. Power could be increased but since you have stock piping all you will notice is a change in the exhaust note. MPG is dependent on your driving. I have 4 stock cats but I am unsure if they can work for your truck in terms of sizing.

Okay that sounds more like what i heard when talkimg to my friend of spreen engines (Dillon Spreen) here in boerne. But my only concern is passing inspection so we are going with a the Cat Converter again.

700 I think is high. I haven't been back to lesters since I bought a set of tires there and they didn't say "thank you"

I bought my cat from off-road performance I think it was, online.

Try vibrant cats or mangaflow cats. They are cheaper than oem and still do the job.

Talked to a couple other mechanics and it will cost around the same. Doesnt help that i dont have a flange anymore on mine so itll require more fab work.

I forgot. What about a weld in type? Wouldn't it be cheaper?

Have you checked with an exhaust shop on pricing? Most of the time its pretty cheap to have one weld in a muffler or cat. I'd look hard at an aftermarket cat. Way cheaper than OEM.

If its not the oem i run the risk of the check engine light problem from what ive read and heard. not sure what styles gonna be used but im taking it to someone because i dont have the time to do it myself and wait for parts.

Trying to get it there is the problem, lesters is just down the road from me and not in san antone. trying not to drive it far for repair. Dont wanna spend the money on a wrecker if i dont need too. Had my starter and brakes replaced at lesters in the past year so ive been there before.

Junkyard.....would probably be the cheapest. When I had my 1st gen, the cats on it went bad, or so they said. I replaced them and nothing but problems after that. Changed O2 sensors and still had problems. Hope they find those bastards.

I don't think you would have problems with a missing cat. Correct me if im wrong.

They caught a man and a woman on tape driving a dark blue sedan looked to be a bmw. Lady leaning on it like she owned the truck. Keep yalls eyes open in the rim area for this. Thing was it happened around 11 am and i was on lunch from 10:45-11:15 so if i went out for lunch like i originally planned with a coworker i coulda beat em there and missed em or stumbled apon them.

Just loud as hell and smells like a old 70s ford pickup. And i have the pipe between the Cat Converter and muffler tied to the frame by fence wire.... It was a pain in the ass to drive 20 mins (Rim to my house) goin 45mph yesterday, rather drive 2 miles to lesters than back to san antone haha
