I had a 04 Chevy silverado I bought in 2005 with 8000 miles. I will never ever buy a gm product ever again. All I had was one problem after the other. The truck never ran straight in the seven years I drove it.

I'm with ya there. I would be looking at GM or a Tundra if I needed full size. I think I would do the GMC this time just because I have had the Chevy.

I am leaning 51% toward the GMC. But there is something about that Silverado.

I don't know if you will find the same, but I usually find that the Chevy is less $$$ when compared to an equivalent GMC. Doesn't make any sense, but it is something else to think about.

Do what many GM loyalists do: cross-shop Chevy and GMC dealers in your area and buy from the one that gives you the best deal.

I think both trucks are ugly, but the Sierra's grille probably lends itself better for a satoshi mod if you ever feel inclined.

Looks better than the Caddy one. Bumper doesn't look like it fits right on it. Moot point though since that's a previous Gen truck .

I think the GMC is meant to be slightly more luxury at every level than a comparable Chevy. At least it seems that way to me. I think an SLT Sierra is nicer than an LT Silverado, and of course the Denali blows away an LTZ.

My brother bought an '08 Chevy brand new and loves it. To my knowledge, it's never been to the dealer for repairs. Cylinder shut off gets him close to 20 on highway trips. And it doesn't have shitty rear springs. Even if I could afford one, it's too big for my needs. Love my Tacoma. Good luck on your purchase.

Man, the front end on that generation of GM trucks just looks awkward. It was as if a commitee designed it...

Option for option the SLT and LTZ are the same (only on the trucks, not the SUV's). Its a really goofy way to do it, but the denali pickup has the same interior as the LTZ Tahoe, but not the LTZ truck. You really have to look close to make sure you get exactly the same options.
I can't speak to the actual mileage on them, I have a tahoe, not a silverado, but I can say that the 5.3l with the 6 speed tranny with cylinder deactivation can get me 22mpg on the highway. Not bad for a tank.

I'm waiting for the next Gen Tacoma to come out but until then it's the Tundra for me. I've had the 08 and the '11 and when my lease is up next June I'm all over the '13 Tundra. The GM is good I've had good results with them but they don't I repeat DO NOT compare. You name it my truck will do it better. Not pounding my chest, and as much as I love this machine I also love the Tacoma and like I said when the new Gen Taco comes out I will own it . With fuel prices not going down and the fact I can do without a full size and getting these trucks in trails isn't easy.

No sister, the reason is that I am a huge fan of the Outer Banks in North Carolina. And the Audubon society is forcing the National Park Services to close the beaches for the birds by taking them to court. Last year Toyota donated 20 million dollars to Auduon. So, I refuse to buy from any one who supports Audobon. That's all.
