long story short, 10 year service limitations as a sgt, plus career ending injury during cycle = work in receiving company, then medically retired. At least I will be getting something after all of this.

My Father was a Marine. Served right before Vietnam. Deployed in Okinawa Japan for a year and half on stand-by waiting to go in to Vietnam.

He passed away in 08. He was and will always be my hero.

Thank you to all of you for your service to this country and keeping it free. I'm graduating from college at the end of this school year and for the last year I've been throwing around the idea of going to OCS and becoming a Marine.

... ^^^ ... if your disability increases in % later ... you can surpass normal retirement pay at 20 years and especially since disability is tax free. But adding CRSC to a normal 20+ year regular retirement is a different story.

Same thing happened to me and looking back was best thing in my life. Literally saved my life at the time and gave me full tax free disability (and some other bennies regular retirees do not get) many years later.

Good luck and make lemonade from these lemons as time goes on.

Yeah the 03 field is tough right now. A lot of good marines are getting forced out to protect the desk homeys jobs. Its the same thing that happened after desert storm. Just a different President.

Hopefully going to be a future marine! waiting to find out when i head up to MEPS in Portland, OR. Don't know what my general job field is going to be yet as i haven't taken the ASVAB, which i'll take in Portland. If everything goes smoothly i'm looking at shipping out to Boot Camp in January. I'd ask for advice for going into bc but i know what thats gonna be, KEEP YOUR MOUTH SHUT haha. Can't wait! i'm stoked and ready to go!

I tried to join the marines but I'm colorblind so i wasn't able to. So now I'm in college working towards an engineering degree so i can hopefully get in as an officer or something.

Anyways nothin but respect for you guys. Always been a role model to me.

    Just the basics
Haven't visited this thread for a while...

Classic. The big eared guy in our platoon had the highest PFT Run. Go figure.

Now this is classic hilarity. Maybe next Friday I can get down to the depot for morning colors and a graduation. The GF has never been and I always love going down to the place of my second birth.
    oooooh rah!
