    .
Funny thing that happened last nite, i joined this cycling group online and went on a couple of rides, mostly middle-agers, mostly light-ass road bikes, me, I have a 37 pound beast of a trek MTB with areo bars and lights brighter than my truck's low-beams. Them? I mostly outweigh them by at least 40-50+ pounds each. So I went on a group ride last Sat which was cool, not too hard for me. So I put up on the site an invite to do my regular ride which is 25 miles mostly in the dark on this paved trail. I do cruising and wind sprints, I put in the invite what speeds I normally ride and mention I'm on a MTB. The one person who shows up is a senior member of the group, about my age, she's sporting an Italian carbon fiber road bike, my friggin wheels probably weigh more than her bike. So this is the first time i met her and we take off, or more to the point she takes off, instead of 13-15mph to warm-up, she's doin 20, I'm thinking "Fuck woman, what you came here to show me up? Make me feel slow and old? Make me think I don't belong to this group?" So I hang at that speed for a couple of miles and say "hey ease up a little I'm still warming up my legs", She looks back at me and says condescendingly" oh just do your normal pace, you don't want to burn yourself out" In my head I'm like "Oh fuck you, fine, WATCH THIS!" She hung with me until the sun went fully down, her POS LED light crapped out and she complained that she had to watch out for cracks in the asphalt as not to catch her tiny ass tires. I then proceeded to outsprint her ass and leave her just enough in the total darkness to humble her down a bit. By the time we got back to our vehicles, I was fucking whipped but there was no way I was gonna show it to her, right before she tells me she's gonna sprint up the local mountain tomorrow for training, she tells me "You have a really powerful sprint, you surprised the hell outta me, you're really fast on that MTB"
Yeah woman, that's how I roll, fuckin talk down to me will ya???? (i didn't say that to her but that's what I'm thinking) :)

I bet she was 20 years younger than you too! Good on you. I've noticed around here the more expensive the bike, the less inclined the rider is to return a simple wave or even acknowledge my existence when we pass on the road.

:angrygirl: :woot: it works! I am glad I could get her her own face. Now you can just use it instead of your angry face and Boyd won't get angry.

nah, not snooty in my town, just the opposite. No one here can afford a carbon fiber bike, they must be from Rhode Island!
