anyone with well water that has a ton of minerals should have a filter and should also replace the anode rod. I grew up with well water and our water heater lasted my entire adult life. proper maintenance is key with natural water. you can swap out an anode rod in 20 minutes and your water heater should last forever. I already did mine twice in my house and I have city water.

that is all I use it for. heat won't be on until November and AC is for chumps.

I should of. worst mistake in my life was buying a house. I would be rich if I didn't have that waste of cash. wasted my late 20's and early 30's being builder bob when I should of been traveling the world like I used to before I bought into the "you need to have a house to be successful" thinking.

Just telling you how it is. My bills don't lie. shit I haven't even made a gas payment all summer because they over charged me so much last winter. I know insulation works, but how much heat am I losing when my heat is turned off all day until I get home. My shit stays at 60*.

lol. why is vinyl junk? what would you recommend? wood cladded with aluminum?

    Where are the boobs?

Let me preface all comments with I worked for different companies over last 3 years, and have vinyl windows installed in my house.

http://www.vinyl-windows.org/VINYL-PDF.pdf. Interesting vinyl facts. 70% of all US Vinyl windows material provided by royal extruders. Cheap 150$ hd window, 1200$ brand name pella vinyl window( Andersen has never sold vinyl windows) vinyl patio furniture and vinyl windows are same material. They offer out the box performance but long term efficiency is not achieved. They look cheap and are not structural to support weight of double paned windows. ESP when exposed to high temps from summer sun. Vinyl expands and deflects with a surface temp of 156 degrees. Very achievable on a 93 degree day. All vinyl will eventually fail structurally, depending on exposers.

http://lmgtfy.com/?q=Pella+class+action+lawsuit#seen Aluminum clad wood is also a terrible idea. Two major brands offer this, pella and Marvin. The problem here is the al. and wood cannot be permanently bonded, as both have different expansion and contraction rates, so there is an air gap in between said materials. Condensation will collect in gaps and wood will absorb moisture and slowly dry rot the wood. ( see pella class action )

1% of all us windows are fiberglass, which is a disaster, enough said on that.

Composites solve many of these issues and Andersen makes a product that solves maintenance issues, structural issues, performance and durability issues. Also looks like a wood framed window, not a plastic box. It is actually Andersens replacement window division, not new construction contractor grade window. Renewal by Andersen is the brand.

Window geek like me can go on and on, if ave questions I will gladly answer, as my medicinal tomato sauce has me feeling all medicinally. $:)

Good job:spy: Every window I have replaced is with an Anderson :D

I also have a Pella sliding patio door with the shades between the glass (best invention ever). It's not "Energy Star" rated due to the lack of a low-e coating, but who cares cause I got shades :D The frame is their same frame for their E rated, just different glass cause the shades would scratch off the low-e deposits.

My rear door is composite with a full tipple pain window. The 2nd/3rd surface is leaded consisting of frosted/reed/rain/antique and some other cool glass I have never seen.

My basement windows will be YKK 45TU 2" x 4-1/2" anodized aluminum thermally broken storefront windows with 1" units consisting of 1/4" Sungate 500 over 1/4" low iron acid etched. I just need light no need to see out or in. One day Ill grab some stock lengths from work and get some free glass. I actually should do it before winter. Hmmmm

Oh and there is another slightly more seedy truck show this Sat. after the Holmam event.

    http://www.misfits4x4.net/misfitsevents.html

I went to last years and it was a great time. This year should be much better for the "events". Last year they just had a couple cars people were crushing. This years will have many more obstacles :spy: None of wich any of our trucks could handle :D

No. Haven't yet. Most of my glass comes from the factory with the units. In some cases when I have to outsource the glass, I've been using Park Glass in Roselle Park.

I was talking to them the other day and they said they do a ton of elevator glass so I was wondering. They are a "specialty glass" fabricator. They don't even mess with clear glass. All funky stuff.

It's like best buys insignia brand tvs. First made by Samsung, now made by sharp I believe. Made by a brand name with lesser components, so brand name won't put name it.

Andersen invented the vinyl window in 1959, but never sold one under its own name, too many flaws . Fuck, I know more about windows than I do about my truck:eek:

    Ill be there at 9.

Nick is coming with Dave's 4 runner cause Dave has to work. Pat is bringing his exo cage.

After the Holman show we are headed down to the misfits show.

lol... The logo changes for all manufacturers. Do you think they make their own glass? When I worked for Oldcastle Pella was our #1 customer. We change the tempered stamp when running their glass. Takes 2 seconds to change out a stamp.

If you know how to read the stamp you can tell who really tempered the glass, but I'm not telling how to do it :spy: Trade secrets.

am ~ kinda hard to judge show trucks in the dark

lol... I give him some credit. At least now he is researching his answers.

We can discuss glass history all night, but it will never change the fact I'm a second generation glass guy who has been working with glass for 19 years and have worked for Oldcastle and Alcoa and trained by the best old school Pollocks and Italians.

Not doing research. It's my industry. I work for Andersen and toured their facility. Theyr glass, silver coat it for low e coating themselves, they do not "buy" materials and assemble a window. They have a vault with 10s of millions of dollars in silver which I saw and is pretty amazing. Lots and lots of silver ingots. They also TiO2 coat their glass as well. Pella is a joke company and is in distress, shhhh. They may soon not be partnered with lowes anymore. When it comes to windows, I know my shit, over a million dollar in annual sales myself, I need to know shit.
I think u threw a compliment in there, thank you

On another note, my sentra throw a code for crankshaft position sensor. Changed it. Know wont turn over, cranks and sounds healthy, every once and again it turns over but stalls quickly. What couldn't be? I'm thinking fuel pump possibly.

I posted the number on fakebook a while ago along with dudes info. call him. otherwise your just another spectator.
