    Thanks.

The second item you listed is a pre-assembled coilover. This includes the top plate spacer and top hat mount. Those peices along with assembly jack the price up. The second item you have listed includes a $80 AAL and a $150 rear shock. So if you add up the additional items and then subtract the price difference youre looking at $190 extra charge for the pre assembled bolt on coilover.

Seems about right. However having said that I would not recommend getting the pre assembled shock you have listed. It is not worth it considering it is just a 5100 with an eibach coil.

I also would strongly not reccommend getting a single AAL from toytec. Mine squeaked like hell and then finally snapped. They were very hard to work with to refund my money and I finally said screw it because they were only going to give the value of the one broken leaf.

Go with a Wheelers or Icon 3-leaf progressive AAL.

Thanks! This is very good information. I am just looking to get a standard set of 5100's to set at 1.75" in the front that will level out the rear TSB springs. Was looking for a kit from toytec that would give me that, but maybe the pre-assembled coilovers aren't the way to go it seems. Also trying to find an example of a kit that includes the rear 5100's as well in case I go that route.

Thing about it is... if I get the TSB done and buy these coilovers for $600...

... Isn't it just a matter of setting them to 1.75", bolting them on, and I'm done with a nice, level ~1.75" lift all around once things in the back settle? No labor charges that way. Am I missing something? I've read that a diff drop might be needed, but it seems that 1.75" is on the border...

That is already pre loaded to give you 3". You would have to dissasemble the coilover and then remove the top plate and also set the 5100 spring perch at zero.

To achieve your desired lift you can do a couple things:
    1. 5100 @ 0 with Eibach coil. ~$300
    2. 5100 @ 1.75 with stock coil. ~$150

I was missing the whole "can't just adjust it without diassembly thing". Didn't see any pre-assembled coilovers with 5100s @ 0, so I am assuming everyone ends up dealing with the labor or cost of compressing coils for all of these people with 1.75" on the front (i.e no easy bolt-on solution).

Having a shop assemble your coils and struts will cost no more than 50 dollars for both....................and you can install 5100s or any shock really with no shop or compressor.

Saw that thread, but was a little hesitant based on the fact that the admins took the video down because it was deemed that the method could be dangerous. But yeah, I guess shocks/coils separate and just driving them to a shop for assembly and bolting them on myself would be good.

The excerpt below is from the lift/suspension info sticky for this forum. What it comes down to is that this is pretty much exactly what I want to do. Can someone give me an example or two of a coilover/leafpack combo or two that provide a ~1.5 in. of lift and be pretty level?

    Excerpt...

In a perfect world, every 05+ Tacoma owner would choose new coilovers and a new rear leaf pack to gain about 1.5″ of lift because:
    - 1.5″ is enough to install a solid tire upgrade – nothing massive mind you, but definitely capable (learn more about tire sizes for lifted Tacomas)
    - Going with such a small amount of lift keeps most of the factory suspension geometry – your suspension will perform as it was designed to, yet your upgraded components will give you excellent performance
    - The handling and ride will not degrade – in fact, both handing and ride may improve
    - Mostly stock vehicles with only mild lifts, new coilovers, new rear leaf packs complete the Baja 1000 every year

Video is still up? And when you let the tension of the spring out it and the shock are still connected to the top of the housing so wont fly out. Everyone has their comfort levels and I respect that.

Look into the ironman lift bro.........2" lift...........no need for UCAs. Also....do you want a level look or do you like the rake?
eibach coils provide 1.6" of lift by themeselves so paired with some 5100s set at 0 thats what you will get in the front. The rear depends on if you want a level look or rake. You could have Alcan make you a stock height pack but more rugged and less prone to sag like our stock leafs or you could get any number of leaf packs from the ironman(2" lift) to dakars(2.75" of lift) to Allpro(3" of lift) and depending on how much lift you want.
