SoCal Tacoma LED Cluster Swap

So you think I should paint the needles green with spray paint? LED's came in today and picked up a soldering iron from radio shack yesterday, just a cheap one for this project and extra solder. Came 60/40 flux, hope that's ok.

 

No not spray paint. Some acrylic will work. Hell one guy painted his with finger nail polish and it worked.

 

Oh also what helps is a soldering sucker. It removes the old solder.

 

I was looking for one but couldn't find it. Maybe the design has changed from the last time I used one lol. The one I used 11 years ago in school looked like a turkey baster. I'll go back and ask then swing by the beauty shop for nail polish, lol. Thanks for advice man

The one I'm using it works good.

 

Lol I use those small acrylic spray paint just cover the needle correctly so you just lightly spray the back

 

Cool. I'll have to pick some up tomorrow, autozone have it? And I was wondering which side of the needle, so back only then?

 

I don't think vatozone has it...I know a hobby shop should...they're small cans

 

repaired a cluster for a member today...he just needed a little help, he attempted to swap it...looks good tho

i want to do white background with blue needles, blue shifter led's, blue clock led's, and what about blue ac controls? i read you dont do those?

i also want to install 4 led light bars to light up under the dash and below the rear seats.

 

Unless you have a clock from a 09+ model, you won't be able to swap the led's out. If I remember right he does the "a/c" switch and the circulator switch, but doesn't do the fan speed, temp, and vent switch

 

^ correct. The AC controls take time and are a big PITA.

 

I can do it all...but the shifter you have to do that and the a/c controls I'm still working on and haven't decided if I will be doing them yet
