this is the one i got. seems a little flimsy. maybe it won't be so much once a plate is on it.

 

did you paint that or is that the primer? cant wait for mine.

 

Thats just primer. Took it off today and will bring it tomorrow to friends and prep it/prime, then friday start bed lining..and probably finish with a coat of paint saturday. then let it sit for a few days.

 

I recommend painting the body panel below the tail lights so it looks much better. If I recall correctly there is a plastic piece that you can see once the stock bumper is removed. Idk if you can leave them on or have to remove them since I took mine off before a got a bumper from billy. Anyways, paint that black and you won't even notice that gap and it looks cleaner. Lighter colored trucks will benefit from this.

 

There is no plastic on my truck its just metal. But I can see what u r talking about painting it though. U don't notice it on my truck though

 

I called billy about some how to put the stock trailer plug into the bumper(had to take off the plastic end and tape the poo out of it cause it was hitting the tube) and he randomly mentioned that i should take the plastic corner piece out. I did He said it can allow the bumper to fit better up against the truck. Might consider that idea of painting it

 

Here is mine. Painted all the way up to the fold in the body panel

 

So u just painted it black so the gap doesn't ” look” there . . . . looks good actually. Gives it depth and puts ur eyes on the bumper

Update! Priming complete! Almost finished off a second can...thanks to no wind at all..i think im a tad bit high on primer...at least i won't rust

 

Bed lining complete! 3ish coasts on outside...1 plus some change on inside...still half a can left!

Well. I want to paint it once and thorough..why would I not take painting it seriously?

 

I mean im with u. I just figure that if u use that bumper like u should, ur gonna get chips and scratches and stuff so I didn't wanna spend too much time on paint. Im not hatin on u, ur paintin it right.

 

Don't be afraid to lay more coats down. I used two cans of bedliner before painting and it turned out great!

 

Hm....mentioned it to my friend to use the rest on the outside. He said he could do the final layer of paint while i'm gone on a taco meet 2 hours away. And yes..I trust him with the finishing of my bumper, even more so than if I was doing it, he connects with his paint in such a fluid motion...me..I paint like I have no idea what I'm doing..that's why I do the touchups

And no..I won't be abusing this bumper alot..but I want to be prepared for when I do. (If I was allowed to spend money on a lift..tires..etc..I probably would have done that first..but easier stuff comes first )

 

got it all mounted this morning .. Just need to finish up the lights

 

Decided to keep it just Bedliner for now. Isn't as rough as I had expected. License plate light covers don't quite fit flush against the metal but the bulb area is sealed so meh lol

 

Yeah thats what I was tryin to say about that bedliner. I don't know why everyone is so worried about the roughness

 

The guy who prepaid before me had his bumper shipped.... Mine must be just about ready!!
