I use it everyone morning and love it. I also have the cool down timer so on hot days I click the button and let the truck cool down for 1min and walk away. I came from a diesel truck so its just normal for me to do.

Just got mine and I love it!

I got the Avitel 4103lxl. With this model you get smaller key fobs and you do loose the digital beeps but you retain the blinking lights. After remotely starting the truck the parking lights stay on so you can visually see the truck is running. There is no way to tell from just the fob. You can have the sound hooked to the horn but that is very loud. I opted for a speaker to keep the sound. I had the installer also make it so when I put my key in the ignition and turn the truck on my door automatically lock. When the key is removed the doors unlock. Also just one press of the button on the key fob unlocks all the doors rather than just the drivers door. Now only if I can remember to turn my defroster on high the night before.

I have the dealer installed viper system, dunno which one, whatever one they offer, do I have to buy an entirely new alarm system to get remote start? Or is it just an Add on to the stock system?

i have one - dont actually use it too much -- but it is nice thing to have for the little money.
People get all freaked out when it starts like it something so rare -
Its a good feature to have your a/c or heat going when you dont want to run out to start it and then run back inside lol ....

What brand remote starter seems to be the best out?
And will Best Buy do a good install, or do I need to look elsewhere?
Will be getting my wife one for her Rav4 for her birthday. I just want one thats not gonna mess up on her.

Why would you need a remote start? I know most say that they use it to warm up the truck when it is cold. When I start mine it is usually blowing warm air before I even get out of the parking lot from work.

I know its cool and all, but really. Reading on line it looks like they cause more problems and aggravation.

you would understand if you lived in snowbelt... it does NOT blow warm when started.

No, that's the smart start module so you can have control of you're alarm thru your phone..you need to buy and install the alarm itself
