I like both but if its a reliable commuter that good on gas and still kind of fun to drive I'd go with the Si. I dont know about you but I know eventually I would need to mod the mustang for some of its potential power. It's just too tempting affordable and rewarding with them. When you do that practicality and mpg tend to go down. The Si is fun to mod and drive but unless you get drastic will stay pretty practical and as everyone knows and stated they are torqueless so modding it for power is low on returns. For a practical reliable good on gas but still fun sporty DD its a no brainer- Civic Si.

    Nice!
I'm agreeing with you guys and I really do appreciate the input. I almost bought an '04 Mach1 the other day and I had to stop myself. It was SO BADASS!! I just couldn't empty my bank for a car that was going to keep my wallet empty.

look at Mazdaspeed 6 and 3. they are less than ten grand. Fun cars too. Drove a Speed 6 for the past 5 years. It was a bad ass ride and I could get 25MPG if i was easy on the pedal.

Depending on how much you're trying to spend I'd say civic all the way. The cost of ownership is going to be less. Not only will you be getting better gas mileage but you'll have cheaper insurance and the upkeep should be lower. If you had a short commute I'd say Mustang. I used to drive a 99 accord with the little vtec in it while my Mustang was getting redone and except for the automatic I enjoyed driving it a lot. Now, I fell back in love when I jumped back into my Mustang after 8 months without it but it has cost me alot more money than that Honda would ever have. My Tacoma is my DD now.

Still haven't bought anything. Every car I run across something just doesn't add up or costs the deal. I'm going to look at a 99 cobra coupe tomorrow night, then, a 2000 civic si on Sunday so hopefully I'll be able to make a deal!

This! If you're giving up the taco based on MPG then get something that makes it worthwhile (as much as you can anyway).

BTW, this should be in the 2nd gen forum.:D

I sure miss my EF HB. So fun to drive, and 35mpg.
