Has anyone else given up on your paint?

After finally washing my truck after last weeks race I think I am finally giving up on my paint job. I have read a few threads on how our paint jobs suck and I am thinking about repairing. I have always had the truck parked in the garage and wash it every other week and wax and apply a sealant every few months.
Now I should also admit I have plenty of desert pin stripes and a little rock damage because I do run the truck so I should keep that in mind.
Should I just keep doing what I have been to prevent it from getting worse? Not sure I want to spend 4k to paint it just to go out and get new pin stripes.
What would you guys suggest?

Wash, Clay Bar, Wax. That should get rid of the majority of the pinstripes that are just scuffs and not legit scratches. If you have a chipped area from where rock's pinged your paint a little touch up paint and a high speed buffing with help with that. The body shop I use will fix a paint chip for $20.
Edit: Yes I've given up on mine and plan to re-paint it either red or white when I get the money.

 

Thanks for the advice. I have already clay bared the truck multiple times. I can still get the paint pretty smooth but I have what what my local body shop confirmed as orange peel. Also have multiple spots on my hood and roof about 1/2 a inch where the paint seams to be cracking from the center like a spiders web. I might just settle and get the hood and roof shot to prevent further damage.
As for the pin stripes I have tried to buff them out and they are less noticeable but still there. Truthefully I am not that bothered by them as it is a truck and they are 100% my fault.

I just had mine 3 stage compound/polished/waxed. Paint looks almost new, and I had torn it WAY the fuck up prior.

Find a good professional detailer in your area and have a talk with them. A couple hundred dollars of TLC could make your paint almost like new again.

 

Thanks for the detailing advice, I'll take your advice and give it a try as a decent shop wants over a grand to paint and clear coat the hood and roof.

 

Linex/rhino line the entire truck. That's my game plan

What color are you guys trucks? I have noticed working around cars that white is by far the best color durability.

 

I think i would have to care about my pain job to give up lol. I have so many pin stripes If I cared that much i would be afraid to wheel it.

 

I gave up a long time ago. Now, when people ask about my paintjob I run the tip of a razor sharp benchmade down the side of it and say "see, don't have to worry about scratches anymore." It also washes clean with a garden hose, no scrubbing required. They should come like this from the factory. (rhinoliner with martin senour industrial flat black on top)

 

Black, also dont anyone take this as toyota bashing but my last fords paint held up way better and it was not kept in a garage, the rest of it not so much. Am I wrong to expect the paint not to spider crack on the hood and roof? Again the pin stripe and rock rash are user error or enjoyment depending how you look at it so I don't fault the paint there.

 

Yeah as sick as your truck is I could easy get past a few scratches.

 

Another good point, that's where I need to get to. After all wheeling is fun and washing and waxing well not so much....
