I like the look of a truck with a bed, but thats just me. If you put some detactchable bed sides on it then I think that would be pretty cool. It is a really nice tube bed though.

But you need to get rear locker first :p

lol yeah I know I need a rear locker, I don't know if I should hold up on that or not. I don't really want to invest in a locker now if I'm going to potentially be swapping the rear axle at a later point as part of the SAS.:notsure:

Dont do it, you will regret not having the look of a truck anymore

I would try to get the most out of the IFS you can first, then SAS. You will be extremely suprised what all you can do with the rear end locked. I would lock the rear end and wheel it for awhile and become an even better, more experienced driver. But thats just me. I want to lock the front end but will probably SAS first.

well..how much do you use it as an actual truck? cause doing that would render it mostly trail rig haha

i think its bad ass tho  i almost did that. would have if my old cab didn't have holes in the roof.

    Pretty much never. :anonymous:
DD and trails is only what it's ever been since I had it. Hauled my stuff from Laramie when I moved, that's about it haha

If I'm worried about the truck look I could always do bed skins like Wyatt's

I got to thinking about this because I figured I'd cage after the SAS, just couldn't decide if it should be internal or exo. Figured my best bet would be to build the bed like so and use an internal cage for the cab. Best of both worlds? :D

I'll probably start slowly collecting parts soon but I'm guessing the actual swap won't happen for another 3 years or so (hopefully done with RN school by then and have a decent job that can afford it haha :anonymous: )

That's if I have a shop do the work, I'd be a little nervous to do the work myself to say the least. If I do the work myself, I'm hoping sooner.

Mark... NwiTACO had the original design and Crolison took his design. Still a good design though.

I, personally, like the look of a cut-to-pieces bob'd/dovetailed bed more than most flat beds... That being said, there are a few exceptions! :D One being in the above picture! lol  I think the key to a good looking flat bed is to keep it simple, small, and nice and narrow in the rear. (like the above flatbed) Otherwise it'll look like a jungle gym.... ;) :spy:
Weld it. :) Costs maybe a couple cents in electricity and welding wire. :p This'll also give you an incentive to swap it out even faster!!!

I know where that jungle gym reference was going

And yes, weld the rear. Cheap and really effective

Yeah noticed that when I found some of the threads the two of them posted in. I like the simplicity. Already sent Mark a PM about it haha

Haha yeah, but forget DDing it

    lol :D

Yours isn't the worst I've seen, Eric... It's really not that bad. Once you fill it in a bit with the actual bed part, it'll look a lot better... But i do have to say, that your original idea for your flat bed was sick!!! I just wish the real thing looked more like it... Also, it is a bit big for my tastes. ;)

:notsure: Why not DD it? I've got several buddies with welded rear ends on their daily drivers. (they're a bit crazy, like me, but still! haha) Just get used to chirping on corners. And rotate/balance the tires frequently as the rear will chew em up a bit.

ehh..i don't think Jon should weld it. He like drive long distances to go wheeling :p haha selectable locker or Detroit is what he needs i think.
