Slodgetto's Green Dragon 4x4 Conversion Build

Curious to see how the belly armor turns out.

Even if the belly is gonna be 1/4" as well, I'd still strongly recommend the it be reinforced with some square tubing or something at least along the sides. If you come down on a rock I think it'll eff up 1/4". And I'm sure it'll be a lot harder if not impossible to get the dents out of 1/4" as opposed to 3/16"s

 

I wouldn't use square. Id use 1'' Angle iron. Weld the two edges into the skid so it makes a triangle. Be lighter then square and stronger.

 

I've got some 3/16th thick 1 1/2" angle iron lined up for that. I was hoping not to have to brace them, but it may be a good idea to use at least one or two well-placed pieces... Just trying to keep the weight down as much as I can. These things are freakin heavy!

and 1.5'' angle...i think that'll be too tall..but maybe not. But im sure just a couple stick like 6-9'' long is well placed areas is all that it needs.

 

What am I going to put on it to sell?

oh dang, hopefully not! I haven't actually tried to fit some under there yet, that's just what I have lying around. If it doesn't fit, then I'm not going to worry about it.

well, not like a 3'' stick of 1'' will be that much money lol if you go to the shop and ask for a drop piece, least thats what they call it here, it'll probably be like 4 bucks.

i was thinking more like 12"... or longer. and i've been buying all my small pieces of steel at lowes. about $18 for 36" I think... lol My local steel place doesn't like it when I ask for small stuff.

and nah man, i won't be able to afford the tires and i don't want the skids unless they ship with the tires haha ill just build my own. But ill have no money for the tires ...hence why i said give to me haha

i have actually considered slapping on some bald 17" car tires for the fun of it! since i work at a tire shop, it wouldn't cost anything and i could do it for a day and burn out every where i go!!! (wonder if i could do a 4 tire burnout....) hmmmmmmmmmm

yea even after you sold me the 33s..your truck looked WEIRD on 31s haha would be freaking now haha especially with the trimmed fenders and bobbed bed hahaha
