Welcome from the armpit of America!

Stay away from Duratracs with the heat you guys have IMO. They are a super soft snow tire.

Holy sh*t!!! Thank god I got mine years ago before they became popular. I paid less then $200. Heck the new KM2's I got I paid $190 for a couple months ago. I don't think I would ever pay more then $200 for a tire.

Well for next time remember Discount tire will match tire rack prices. Plus their warranty is very good?

I had a set of michelins a little over half wear that got a hole in one of the side walls. That tire was discontinued so they fully covered a newer model of the tire. That more than paid for the warranty of the 4 tires.

Are Duratracs in the same class as the BFG AT's or are they more of the BFG MT's? I love the MT look just know they wont work for me.

So the duratracs to me look more MT than the BFG AT's that why i like them.... Just wondering if they are more of the BFG MT for wear and noise of AT..

Just a couple more quick pics.

Handling has improved out of sight compared to the BFG's and for all those concerned about road noise....WHAT ROAD NOISE?!?!?!?! At best just a slight hum at speed around 80/100kms.

Got the new set of wheels along with Duratrac 265/70R17 tires. Soon hit the road to test the vibration and rubbing issue discussed in this thread. The tires do rub full turn left to the front rear mud guard but not that much( stock suspension ). On hwy ,as soon i hit 60+ miles the vibration is there as well. I drove 100 miles to another Discount Tire location. They rebalanced, but same issue. I paid $219/tire and $146/wheel. Wheel is MSB brand with +10 offset. Picture posted , suggestions appreciated

Technically in the same class as BFG AT's, because they are an All Terrain. However, the tread is much more aggressive than a BFG AT, and offroad performance compares more to a MT. They will last as long as an AT too.

You'll have a hard time finding a better all-around tire than the Duratrac.

I am running 265/70 Duratracs with 17x8 wheels that have a 0 offset. I rarely experience rub on stock suspension (but it does happen). I don't have any vibration at any speed up to 70 that I have tested. I wonder if it is your lug nuts that are causing vibration? I know that can be an issue.

Unfortunately, they need to be re-balanced again. This time I would request that they Road Force balance them. You shouldn't be getting any vibes after 2 balances, they need to Road Force them and really find where the problem is.

Also, on a side note, your wheels are MB Vortex's.

Thanks Brett, I'll ask them to force road balance. I believe thats what the discount tire rep suggested. About the wheels I'm not sure , haven't looked at the invoice. Thanks again appreciated

Agreed!! All was good with mine until I reached about 1000 miles. Bad vibrations at highway speed and steering wheel shake at around 40 mph. Had them "balanced" three or four times at the shop of install, finally took them to a different place and had a road force balance done . . . no more shake!!

Just for my own edification, what is so different about road force balancing then having tires spun on a computer balancing rig?

Normal balancing simply free-spins the tire to measure for weight variations between the wheel and tire. Road Force actually applies force to the assembly, as if it were on the vehicle. With force applied, it can measure weight variations to a higher degree, as well as tell if the wheel or tire are out-of-round, or if the tire has soft spots.
