Bought a new 2011 grill from a norcal member here. I think it'll look pretty cool. I've been a fan of those honeycomb grills since I first saw them. Have to wait until I'm out of North Dakota to get it.

I mean my dad has 1, I have none! :(:(

    I'm rocking an Eotech.

Didn't realize you were from Columbia though. Used to live in Augusta myself.

Well I finally got home. Had some extra wheel studs from Rhino8541 waiting for me and a spare axle shaft assy from a wrecker in michigan. "43k miles, good bearings" just been rusting since they pulled it apparently. They don't feel bad but sound a little dry. Could probably run em though, maybe I might as well. Not really a big deal for me to pull it and put a new bearing on later, as I can swap out the whole other axle and brake assy, and then fix this one, or I could just do it all at once.

I cleaned a lot of rust off the backing housing and out from around the tone ring. Tone ring also has a little knick out of it, they're just rubber apparently.

Not sure I want to spend the 150$ or whatnot on a whole new wheel bearing. I can do it all myself but... already spent 190 on this junk. It'd be nice if I could make it work.

Had to chase the threads and wire wheel and all sorts of shit already, fuck.

    WHAT TO DO!?!

Should coincide nicely with my gear oil change I'm going to do.

Decided I'm gonna run the damn shaft.

Installed new air filter and new plugs today.

I've always been a fan of Valvoline, hah. I ran valv syn power 75-90 last time, but I'm not overly concerned. Doesn't see the kind of abuse that the rear diff does so using Napa 80/85-90 (which is valvoline) And since I seem to swap gear oil out so much in the rear diff I'm going to run the same in that.

Seriously, changed it at like 15 and then again at 30 and then again with the new diff and then again and then again with the next new diff and again and once more and now I'll change it again and run it for maybe 20k and dump it. Front diff got changed out twice after the gear swap so it should be good for a while longer. I didn't want to spend the extra 10$. :D

IDK not that much more for the t-case but I'm being a little more of a tight wad this go around.

So Ortlie09 (Eric) was kind enough to deliver my grill in person and not even 5 miles from my house.

I never cared one way or the other about my chrome grill but I really liked the honey comb for some reason so I bought his. It's the color of his truck though and not black, so...

What color and with what do I paint it?

I was thinking bed liner, easy, hard to fuck up, tough.

    Thoughts?

    Color match duplicolor silver?

    Score!

I say professional paint to match.

I tried DIY color matching the white grille on my 07 and it chipped bad even after proper prep(scuffing with sandpaper, adhesive promotor, primer, several coats of color match rattle can).
The texture of the rattle can bedliner wouldnt look right on a grille IMO.

    Well, theres my $.02

Yikes! I'm not sure I want to spend that kind of money haha.

I guess I meant fuck up as in the DIY color match would take a lot more prep and work. The bed liner is hard to apply wrong.

    Yeah...

I was thinking full sand, adhesion promoter, primer, color match, clear coat -- if I go that route. Not sure it'd hold up better though. :/

Wonder how much it'd cost to get it professionally done.

Thinking some more, unless professionally done would come out just a little more than buying all the crap to color match myself... I think I'll just do it myself.

Truck isn't very pretty as it is so it'll match... :D

Also, what to do with stock grill? What's it worth?
