What do you guys think about taking off the bed rails. And filing the holes with bondo? I am going to get my bed liner sprayed and I want to add more d-rings closer to the cab. I don't use the bed rails anyways.

Also I was thinking about taking out all 4 of the compartments in the bed and filling the holes up and finishing them flush with the bed. No longer having any compartment in the bed. I would leave or make a custome mount for the converter plug.

sounds like a lot of work for not much gain BUT, it's your truck.
I don't know if bondo would stick to the composite bed very well. I have heard of guys putting tape on the back side of their fender flare holes and then having bedliner sprayed over it.

Where the bed is composite material of some sort, I can see any kind of bed flex "popping out" anything you flush the holes with. But maybe not.. just thinking out-loud. Best of luck with this.

Seems like a lot of work to do not much. How are any of those things going to help n any way?

If you want more d rings there are easier ways to do it, check out the d ring thread.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the rail sliders hold on the rail caps, don't they?

^^the metal rail/track system consists of 4 torx screws per rail. no they dont hold down the cap. but if op did take off track/rails, the bed side panels would be loose from the composite bed. i dont think you bed side panel will fall of, just be aware.

So I think I figure out a better way for the bed side compartments. I am thinking about taking a sheet of steel and cutting it to fit on the face of the bed and rivet them in. I am going to be getting spray in bed liner so you wouldnt even see the plates really. I want to get rid of waisted space. Also the rails will have to come off once I put bedside glass on.
