Toyo MTs to heavy for 4 bangers???

Does anyone run a toyo mt on there 4 banger.. Looking at getting these tires but just worried about the weight being an issue for my truck. This tire for a 265/75/16 comes only in 10 ply nd weighs a whooping 58 pounds.... crippes!!!
The other tire I'm looking at is the stt in an 8 ply so alot lighter, couldnt find the weight .
I can get the toyo cheaper then the stt, otherwise this would be a no brainer for me.
Any input would be appreciated

 

I know I have seen it before somewhere, but maybe somebody who has them can chime in.

 

im gonna say that you will notice a big difference in the ride and the acceleration of the truck. it will lag a bit im pretty positive. thats a heavy ass tire............awesome tire, but it is real heavy.

 

I just bought the Toyo MTs and I am glad I got them (other than price). The only thing I noticed is I have to brake alot sooner. After driving for about an hour in stop and go I was used to it tho. Also I removed the secondary filter after a day of driving with these tires. Removing that little filter has the truck back to feeling like it was stock.

Also I wanted to add, these are MTs, not AT's like the BFGs. I think the reason you see alot of BFG/ATs is no one really wants to commit to haveing a true MT. The thing about the Toyo's is that they have sipping like a TA, similar to the Terra Grappler, but have MT lug spacing and side lugs. PLUS they look 4359894058 times better than the BFG/ATs.

Just over $1200 at Discount Tire. Not the cheapest, but not the most expensive either, at least from my searching.

 

Nice!!! I ended up getting the toyos as well..Turns out cooper doesnt make the stt in an 8 ply anymore.. So I went with the toyos.. I;ll post some pics soon, getting them put on today.. Just in time for the trails up at my cottage this week end.. VERY EXCITED!!!!!!

 

got mine 6 weeks ago265/70/16's on my v6 trd to replace bfg a/t's .i can't speak for the 4 cylinder performance may be too heavy. paid 116.75 ea. you have to find a dealer that will price match the internet!!!!!! align,mount,balance,valve stems,road hazard & free rotation . total was approx. $620 something don't put that money in their pocket .the dealer wanted 189.00 per tire.i've notice a little drop in mpg (not much) and these tires are awesome in rain ,around town,on highway(not noisy) and just went cuckoo in maine on some nasty logging roads .what a i difference over the bfg"s imho

 

The A/T's do cost less than the MTs by up to $60-100 per tire. The OP was asking about MT's

I would look for a lighter tire with the 4cyl. Basic rule-- keep the unsprung weight down as much as you can. Lighter wheels/tires =

 

I might change to a AT tire after these wear out but I plan doing alot of mud/dirt and rock 4x4'ing this summer.

 

If the intended purpose is to spend most of the time off road then yes, get the tire with bigger lugs, extra plies.
Keep in mind there is ALWAYS a compromise to be made.
