I just ordered a K&N air filter from Amazon, but I want to know if it ACTUALLY gives better MPG and Horsepower for those of you who have it.

Nope. Actually quite the opposite happened when it clogged in 2 months. I don't live in the desert or off road either - that tube going into the fender that gets your engine all that nice cold air also tends to pick up all sorts of crud like you wouldn't believe.

OEM filter for the win. It's all of what, $18 at the dealer? It's still less money than going somewhere else and buying a cheap imitation paper filter.

worthywads to post pdf of government study of air filters showing a filter so clogged it collapsed during the test not causing a reduction in mileage in 3...2...1...

Oh shoot, is he talking about just the filter? I thought you meant the FIPK intake system.

The filter might make a very slight difference maybe detectable on a dyno, I highly doubt it will be noticable but I don't know.

niether makes a difference on a dyno. Many folks have tested them.

I don't like American cars, my dad taught me Toyota's last forever, so I only buy Toyota, Lexus , Scion.
Lexus is-f is great for my taste, but small back seat which I don't like

Truck makes 239 hp with premium gas off the showroom floor...

I get a WHOLE lot more than 1-2 mpg over EPA and guess what, OEM filter...

The closest thing to a sports car Toyota has right now is the Rav4 V6. It is possible with the right driver to just break under a 14 flat 1/4 mile with that thing. Literally, it's faster than a stock 5.7L Tundra.

"They're quick, they're fast, they're small... hahahah I feel like a fox in a chicken coop!"

You can count on me. :D

    http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/pdfs/Air_Filter_Effects_02_26_2009.pdf

Except for radical aerodynamic changes the only sure way to get better mpg is driving style, mostly slowing down on the highway and getting to know your daily commute very well and stop racing to the next red light.

I run oem filter with secondary filter intact and average 10 mpg better than epa.
