No, no better. I'll be glad when this house is done...and that's got to be soon. They're building at a ski resort and snow will start piling up rather quickly. They really should have started this about a month earlier. I'm sure it will be my fault if they're running behind
Why are you renovating a new house?

 You're one of those procrastinator people aren't you?

The gc's framer buddy stopped by and said the rooms were too small so he panicked and changed his designs/mind after we had everything done. We are now taking the second floor from 4 beds, 5 baths to 3 beds, 3 baths. And now that the roof is completed I have to take out and repair 2 skylights in the flat roof since they will now end up in between rooms partitions.

Not that I know of. His daddy is über rich and is paying for all this to keep him busy. No owner, he's got two on the go. One is gonna be listed for $1.6 million and the other is going on the market for $2.8 million.

He's hoping someone will like his ideas lol

    :)
some of the most blatant code violations I've found have been in newer houses.

 So this is a "hobby" for him then? Wow...

I'd believe it. Especially in the last few years...everyone is trying to eek out a living so they are bidding projects below what they would normally and then cutting corners like crazy to make a profit.

If I were to spend $1.6 - $2.8 million on a house I'd build my own to get what I want.

Ya that's what it seems like. He knows nothing about construction. He doesn't even know basic codes. My fave thing he does is when we ask him what the code is in that area for something he just says do what you guys do where you work.... Well we deal with multiple cities/towns and each is slightly different.

Try to get him to call the building department and he whines and complains and tells us to google it

Ya he's building them to a very specific design. It's not going to be an easy sell, hes gonna have to be really lucky and hope the right person will see it

to be honest if I didn't watch the news I wouldn't have noticed the recession.
when I moved into my condo 3 years ago it was within 50 yards of on open field, now there's a couple hundred houses there.
a lot of contractors here take on more work than they can handle and slap em together as quickly as possible.
