My stock headlights just aren't getting the job done. I want to get better lights without blinding others on the road. I wanted to go retrofit but have no clue what I need to get this done. Also I want to keep the price as low as possible being I am a college student and need the money for school. Thanks for any input.

what do you mean "HID conversions"??? is it just a matter of putting in HID bulbs into reflector housings???

If so...that method will absolutely blind on coming traffic and blind the other drivers in front of you going the same direction.

To do it right...retrofit your headlights.

What is the maximum amount that you are willing to spend on better lighting??

My top dollar I would spend is $300 but ultimately I would like to stick in the $200 range. I feel the retrofit is the way I want to go just not sure what parts I would need to do so and how tough the instal is.

Not shit talkers, just people who are doing it right, and doing it safely. If I see you coming down the road with your HID conversion in a stock housing and I'm blinded, prepare to the heat of every damn light I have on the front of my truck because I will return the favor.

Op, retrofits are nice, but probably out of your price range. Maybe try getting some hotter bulbs. Silverstars are a little better, but IMO I'm surprised that you are claiming the stock lights are not enough, they are MORE than bright enough for me... and I still get flashed on occasion. If you're drivin in the woods, a nice set of Hellas might be a decent upgrade for ya. Otherwise retrofits OR the tacky custom projectors on fleaBay are your best bang (and safest) bang for your buck.

Has anyone installed an aftermarket relay harness to power the factory headlights? Just curious if that would make a difference on these trucks. I built a harness for my last two trucks and noticed a significant difference with just a new harness with relays on my 86 Toyota. No other mods, stock headlights.

I will eventually make it out to the truck with a voltmeter and measure the actual voltage at my headlights. On the 86 there was a good volt and a half loss between the battery and the lights.

    Well said Brian...

OP do the right thing, don't use drop in HID conversion, retrofit with Morimoto Mini's from TRS, get the H1 it is a bit cheaper than the D2S if price is really a factor. The retrofit is fairly simple and easy.

I'll return the favor of my 55w HID headlights. 55w HID fog lights. (both in STOCK REFLECTORS) 30" LED bar behind my grill and 50" LED bar on my roof. If you're really lucky I'll even shine my 7w CREE LED flashlight out the window on strobe mode
    I win ;)
    Nice try tho

properly aimed projectors. compare that to a drop in HID kit. no comparison at all.

You are probably a young 18 year old with no common sense. And you've probably never driven in front of or towards an idiot like yourself with your shit lights. I hope and wish you NEVER cause anyone harm or death with your lights!! With that being said, I do hope and wish that you get ticketed and even get your truck impounded. Karma's a bitch, be careful!!

Wow, this escalated quickly! I also would (and did) go with the retro fit. I think it was my best/favorite mod for the truck. HID drop-ins are shit, and I hate to see them on the road.
