It is easier for toyota to install the Katzkins at the dealership and charge extra$ plus thats less inventory they have to have at the factory. Most dealerships will install the leather or sub it out to a local shop to install. The leather kits these days aren't that hard to install. When you purchase your truck they will cut you a deal or just buy the kits yourself and do it.

It's not easier for the install of leather covered seats to happen at the deaership level...NO WAY.

most of the effin' dealerships can't even do a simple oil change correctly.

and Toyota makes ZERO dollars if someone gets leather installed at the dealer.

I do see your inventory point. although a company the size of Toyota should be able to handle this with ease.

You must have a shitty dealership then sorry for u and yes they do make money by aftermarket installs. If they didn't make any money on any aftermarket sales why would they even bother selling items. Dealerships sure aren't in buisness to break even. Has worked at dealerships.

the oil change comment was posted "tongue-in-cheek"...although, a search here will prove it somewhat true.

and Toyota makes no money on aftermarket installs at the dealeship level. by "Toyota" I mean the company not the dealer. And this also goes to the inventory point...pretty sure Toyota can handle it.
Maybe I'm incorrect though, maybe Toyota gets a cut of all operations at the dealeship?

plus, I'd asssume the leather from the factory would cost me less than aftermarket (if you include the install).

I'm trying to remember...what year did you have before? It was fairly new, wasn't it? If so, did they give you a deal on your trade?

I would not have traded otherwise.
