    Color matched my front grill last weekend. Anyone have suggestions on a better clear coat? The Duplicolor clear coat turned out matte.

    In reverse order; 5 coats, Duplicolor Protectant Clear Coat, 5 coats Duplicolor Color Match 1G3, 3 coats Duplicolor Sandable Primer Black, and 2 coats Duplicolor Adhesion Promoter.

    clearcoat still needs to be cut and polished to have a full shine. What your grille looks like is uneven spray pattern in a windy/breezy environment. Wet sand it carefully and spray it again. two medium coats, and a heavy thick coat, INDOORS with no breeze. Then, the next day, lightly wet sand it with 3000 grit and buff it out with heavy to light cut polishing compound.
