YOU ALL SHOULD HAVE BOUGHT A CADDY!!! JESUS!!!! How about we keep a truck a truck. You dont see Jeep dressing there wranglers up. They are plane jane and people still buy em, why? Well because they are jeeps and people like them for what they are. Tacoma is a very nice truck but its not made for luxury. If you want luxury they make escalade trucks all day, but, Im sure you all could find something wrong with them as well!

 

Like i said, i dont want frills, just common sense stuff that seems to have been overlooked

Heated seats, sunroof, MP3s, power seats, auto up/down windows and a few others aren't really that important to me... I say MP3s SHOULD be there since practically every electronic device can play them, and it should've been a simple software upgrade to put that feature in place. Meaning it should have been FREE (or damn near) for Toyota to do.

As for the stuff I listed.... Well, my truck is a tool. A tool I use to it's fullest potential so that means it needs to be as useful as possible. More lights for working at night, easier access to the battery (hood struts) when I jump another car or inflate a tire, and mirrors I can USE when it's freezing out!

If I don't park in my barn at night I have frozen mirrors in the morning, and they are useless. Makes it very hard to turn around in my driveway or change lanes on the highway. I could deal with a small window or vent to blow hot air over them, but Toyota didn't even do that! So at this point it's easier to do heated mirrors. Even if I somehow manage to get the ice off and see to get out of my driveway the damn things fog up halfway to work! With a vehicle as large as this is (can't see cars next to me without the mirrors) I would expect SOME sort of defrosting option for the mirrors to be REQUIRED for safety equipment.

 

Okay, so I'm quoting myself. What is more important to me than anything in a truck is not all the fancy frills. Rather, instead of that illuminated 4x4 dial, I would prefer to have manual locking hubs with the shift lever on the floor. I want a drivetrain and frame that have longevity. So, I would rather spend my money thinking that it is going to the quality of mechanical and structural aspects and not the fancy creature comforts.

For the most part I agree with a lot of things except the power seats. They are soooo slow. Unless they have 2 or 3 memory settings, I think they are worthless. Now I get in the truck and in less than half a second I can have move the seat back to where I need it, after my wife has driven the truck.

I would like to see headlight turn off delay. My 9 year old Jeep Cherokee had it, why not a 2008 Toyota. And auto down on all the windows of my DC, not just the drivers seat. As well as Auto up on the windows like my 05 mustang has.

That is the smartest thing that has been posted on this thread. Good job for knowing why MOST of us buy a Toyota Tacoma. These trucks are expensive, yes, but overpriced, I think not. Consider it would take at least 3 consecutive domestics to equal the life of your one overpriced truck. Do the math! Again, good job Terrier.

 

I want one of those INFORMERCIAL stuff like, "Clap-On & Clap-Off" gizmo as Standard Equipment feature. With this kind of High Tech stuff, why..., I can, at a moment notice, clap any sucker on and off at will...

Then when I get tired of clapping, I want the CHIA PET in the Cup holder so I can water it and watch it grow in my spare time in the truck!!!!

 

No offense but Jeep people modify the hell out of their wranglers. They have an entire Magazine dedicated to this "Jeep essentials" You will find it hard to find a jeep not modified in some way.

 

Now that you mention it, I always find more jeep parts, accessories, and sites when I'm trying to find parts for my truck. Or any truck really.

I have only a few issues with the truck after 19 months.

Paint. I've touched up as many chips in this truck then I did on the 1991's plain old white paint after 10 years. But that's the price we pay for these modern new finishes.

The drivers side blind spot. There's been no way I can find to adjust the rear and drivers mirror to eliminate it. I'm going to break down and get one of those little stickybacked mirrors that I hate to get rid of it.

The idiots in the dealers service department. I'm going to try a different dealer that's actually closer to home that I've hears good things about.

The @#$! air conditioning turns on when I set the ventilation to defrost the windshield. I know that if you have condensation on the inside of the window it clears faster this way but a lot of times that's not an issue. Plus my old trucks didn't have AC and the windows cleared up just fine thank you very much.

Other then that I'm thrilled with the truck now that I have it. I'll be honest that I wasn't very happy that the dealer coudn't get get me an access cab without the floor mats and power locks, windows and mirrors but I talked the price down to 17,100 so it's tough to complain.

I'm looking forward to the next 185K trouble free miles and that's the real reason I bought another toyota truck.

I believe he is talking about Jeep the manufacturer. What people do after they buy them is another story altogether. A lot of the river rats around here are tricked out to the max. There also appears to be more stuff made for Jeep as mods. as well.
