I just went and looked at my stock one. I saved it for some reason, lol. Mine does not look like yours. Mine is super glossy. Not flat like yours. Weird. Also my display is gloss-blacked out and not like yours either. Also my knobs are silver and black and not all black like yours.

my local audio shop can get me one in a day or two, but im thinking to bag it because of the gloss contrast with my interior that has flat accents... i was thinking i could wet sand it, or paint it, but you know how those typically turn out. i guess its back to waiting and hoping someone does a flat black version.

my truck is a base so its cheesy OE base audio prob has something to do with the flat black trim...

if you lightly sand the gloss finish, primer it and spray with a flat spray it will turn out fine. Use enamel or something that will be hard and help prevent scratches.

Must be. My TRD has a gloss finish and a larger dot matrix type display like the above post describes. Looks better in gloss IMO and am eagerly awaiting this kit to hit the mass market!

Finally got mine will post pictures later. It has a glossy finish which is a perfect match to my truck. I have the 2012 XSP-x with glossy black and carbon finish.

Ill tell everyone right now, the fit sucks. Imperfections in the paint, the brackets the player sits in are not close to the quality of the sosche one I took out, no surround trim to fill the small gap on the top of the head unit, and the viewing angle is tilted up higher (more glare) than the previous as well. Yes I know these can be tweaked but I spent close to 4 hours removing, trying new holes, adjusting, tilting, refitting, etc today to get it the best I could and I'm still not impresseed. I will be buying the sosche kit at the end of the month when it's released.

    just my 2cents.

Edit. For those keeping score, I called sosche on friday and told them "I have the metra 2012 kit in my hand and I can already tell you I will be buying your kit, what is the latest release day?" ..the rep told me to call back at the end of the month and "I should have it the first week of October". We'll see.

I don't get why a company would put out a product that fits like shit... Atleast this thread should help them sell ZERO more....

Let me define "fits like shit". There are gaps around the head unit, and it is slightly tilted to one side. The kit itself fits in the dash just fine, but when you work on a product for almost a year, and this is what you have to show for it...I think "fits like shit" is appropriate.

You can buy the kit at your local car stereo place or you can wait 2 weeks until I have the sosche kit and I will send you mine

Wow dude that sucks. Maybe I should just wait then. Can you post a few pics? I'm curious to see what it looks like. Does the finish resemble the stock radio? Glossy?

The paint is the same paint code as the stock dash, with flecks and all. No time for pictures now, wiring up my roof lights this weekend. I would wait anyway, we have been waiting months as it is. I will be buying the scosche kit the day I can get my hands on it. Then I will take pics of both installed, if you guys want to wait another week or 2.

Hey man! I am busy as shit lately, and will be for the next week and weekend, then things should free up before the October campout. Post in the Florida thread, we might be able to grab lunch someday, I can usually swing that.

Did you get the single or double din?? IF that even matters..

I ordered the single din the other day. Feel like I'm gonna regret it now.

XMADCOWX, can you take some pics and post them? I'm trying to reserve judgment on the Metra kits, seeing as how it took them so long to bring the kit to market... just seems odd that it would fit so poorly, considering they've been doing this for awhile and again, certainly took their time to bring it out. Perhaps a few others will also have a chance to play around with the Metra kits so we can come to a clear consensus as to whether or not the kit itself is truly a dud, or if perhaps there were some particulars with your installation that made the fit atypical. I AM glad to see it's gloss with the flakes, though... my truck has that (TRD T|X Pro), so I'm glad I won't have to make-due with a flat black kit.

Oh, and I'm not putting any faith in what Scosche says anymore... they told one of our members their kit was going to be out last November. Well, that was a lie that's almost a year old now.

I've just given up for the year and am waiting until spring... then all the kits should be out, and the best one should be determined by then.
