What are some of your favorite recipes/meals when you go camping. If it's Dutch Oven or just over a fire....let's see 'em.

i don't have any pictures but an easy favorite is a Hobo Dinner, serves 4 people

    1lb hamburger
    4 potatoes
    2 onions
    2 bell pepper/red, green it doens't matter
    dales sauce/
    salt/ pepper
Hot Peppers are also good in this.

get 4 pieces of aluminum foil and pat out an equal part of hamburger in each, season with dales, salt/ pepper and then cut up your veggies adding equal portions to each. Wrap up the whole packet and toss over the fire for about 45 mins. Open it up and you're ready to eat. I'll usaully prepare these before i leave the house that way all i have to do is get a fire going and sit back while the food cooks.

    good thread idea.

I like to bring a small gas grill when I go camping and then I do steaks.

Here's my favorite Prime Rib recipe. And before you ask.....yes this is for real...yes the wax paper is very easy to get off and yes it tastes great!

    Prime Rib
    seasonings of your choice
    15 sheets of wax paper
    twine

season your Prime Rib however you like. I use sea salt, Tony C's and Black Pepper.
once it's seasoned let it sit about 30 minutes.
Wrap in 15 sheets of wax paper
Tie twine around it to hold wax paper around meat.

    Here comes the interesting part.
Once your coals are nice and gray throw the wrapped meat directly onto the coals.
20 minutes per side will give you a nice med-rare.

Pull off coals and remove twine and wax paper.

    Slice and enjoy!!

    A few bolts are different.
I'm a minimalist when camping because most of the time its a long hike. I take my primus camp stove and freeze dried food and lots of water. Probably 1/3 of my pack weight is water.

Just boil water pour into food package and let sit for 8 min, mmmmmm delicious spaghetti and meat sauce.

one of my coworkers like to brown ground beef and then he dehydrates it. That is one of his hiking staples.

thats a good idea. I need to learn how to do that. It so important to get as many calories as possible when out hiking like we do here, on the Appalachian trail and surrounding mountains.

Last year, out of necessity, we came up with adding a can of green beans to a box of stove top stuffing. Very tasty!!!!!

Especially when you have not had hot food for three days.
