Mind not made up yet...these two phones because it the one's I know a bit more about...but like the poll, if anyone has another suggestion...I am open.

It most likely will be one of the two unless I get a suggestion of another that I hadn't even heard of, or considered

It's all good, you can't go wrong with either. I can't find better customer service than at the apple nerd desk though. They usually replace a phone I take to them on the spot. One was completely submerged in water and they warranted it.

I voted other. Casio G'zone Commando Android military spec FTMFW! Only phone I've ever been excited about having. Does it all, goes everywhere, holds up, does what I need and ask of it. Hotspot, wi-fi, web, video calls, navigation, tv, makes trail maps & shit tons more. Cost effective and bulletproof. I get enough of that hand me down Apple mess to tinker with every time the wife upgrades her ipods, ipads & iphones. Nothin other than ipod shuffle for the aux input in my vehicles & ipad2 for convenient quick couch surfing while watching TV in the living room and independent internet access thru my commando to sidestep firewall at work or on the road access with bigger screen gets much play.

I've had every iPhone so far. My contract is up for renewal next year, and I'm debating on going to the Galaxy III too. Not sure?

Alright heres my pros and cons for each. I am dubbed an iphone hater, but I will give you a fair unbiased report here. My wife has a iPhone 4 now, as of two weeks ago, otherwise it is the only Apple in my house.

Galaxy (or other Android based phone)

    pros

    1. phone chassis are far more durable than iphones
    2. native support for high quality audio such as FLAC
    3. replaceable battery
    4. you can tweak an Android phone to do almost anything you want
    cons

    1. apps are not refined before launch, and can be glitchy. mainly due to the fact theres hundreds of android OS phones with different hardware running the same software
    2. 4G battery life sucks, tho I hear the new Jelly Bean update should help.
    3. COMPATIBILITY: I hate to say it, but Apple has the market, iTunes, iPod docks, iPod compatible radios for example. Androids will work with bluetooth radios pretty well though, so there are ways around it.
    iPhone

    pros

    1. Accessories.... tons of accessories, iTunes, docks, radios.... although if the 5 has the new lightning connector, accessories may be a couple weeks launching.
    2. Stability: Apps are produced for one platform, not hundreds like Android, thereofore iPhones will be much more stable and less frustration
    3. Siri - as dumb as she is, she's pretty helpful. Android has a few clones but defintely hasn't come anywhere near Siri.
in the middle on battery life. iPhones generally have decent battery life, however with the new 4G rollout, that will likely change. 4G requires alot of juice.

    cons

    1. Weak chassis, built to break. C'mon who's dropped one, or know someone who's dropped one and it shattered
    2. Battery cannot be replaced: Once its dead, its dead. No spare batteries. This is also an issue should the battery prematurely fail.
    3. No support for high quality audio. As an audiophile, its another key difference for me.
    4. no Adobe Flash, which means limited website compatiblity

Heres where I'd divide you.... if you're clumsy at all, and have a history of broken phones, get an Android. If you're not very electronics savvy, get an iPhone. If you like the best, the fastest, free wifi tethering, and tinkering in general, get the Galaxy. If you like stability, compatibility and in general a better app market, go iPhone.

Thanks for that Brian...didn't really help that much, but it's really my own fault.
I need to evaluate what I am looking for in a phone.

I'm not clumsy, some what technically knowledgeable but still lots to learn

I did not like iTunes when I had an iPod and I ended up switching to Zune. I do not think iTunes is as smooth or intuitive as you think it is. I prefer the "flash drive" type of file transfer myself over syncing with iPod and Zune. It gives me complete control of how and where my music goes. I don't have any problems with it and I also listen to a lot of music, I have about 20GB of music on my SII's Micro SD and 35GB on my Zune and I'm always adding new music. I'm not saying Android's way of getting music from your computer is better than the iPhone with iTunes but I believe that many people, including myself, would like Android's way better to transfer music.

I'm not under pressure to have a counterpoint to every iPhone feature, I'm just clearing up misconceptions and wrongly stated facts about the Android OS.

The Micro SD card thing is a big deal breaker for me when getting a phone, like you want a phone with iTunes and I respect that. I have a 64GB micro SD card to hold all my music and to allow plenty of room for expansion. I don't want to have to pay extra for the 32GB or 64GB version of the iPhone. I can buy the 16GB version of whatever Android device I choose and have a total of 80GB of memory and I can keep reusing the Micro SD card when I upgrade phones.

I also do not like how locked down the iOS is and prefer the Android OS and the ability to customize it. I also like how easy it is to root my Android phone.

If you're technically knowledgeable at all I believe you'll prefer the SIII over the iPhone. There's a lot you can learn and you can tweak and tinker with a lot more on you Android phone than an iPhone. I like to mod my truck and I like to mod my phone :D

dude that is not what i said. i said the iphone INCLUDES an IPOD... iPod = best MP3 player ever made, and one of apples best products to date. also, since most people have a lot of money invested in itunes, and like using it because it works well/easy, it goes right with the iPhone. read posts before you start with diarrhea of the hands...

Includes an IPOD? You do know that is just software right? The built-in MP3 player with Android phone is excellent, as is the one built into the Windows phones etc...

"Best MP3 player ever made" is just a meaningless subjective comment. I think there are far better MP3 players out there, hence the reason I have never needed to purchase an Ipod. Opinions differ.

You are the one spreading your ignorance as though it is fact.

yea well an opinion is like an orgasm, mine matters most and i dont care if you have one. fact is, the ipod is a better selling mp3 player than any other one out there, so contrary to what YOU believe, it is superior to any other mp3 player out there, and you or anyone else could look that up. i dont dispute android has a good mp3 player, and i know its just software, mr computer.... but the ipod is the only mp3 player that syncs with itunes, do you know how much money some people have spent in itunes? im sure you use itunes and dont even have anything that has to do with itunes.

IIRC android has an mp3 player named "b player" that is made to mimic the ipod for android users...
