Low range not working? Beeping!!!

I have a 2009 4x4 2.7L four banger with only 3500kms (2100miles) and it would not come out of low range. The low range light was flashing and beeping. I turned it on and off and rotoated the dial back and forth until it finally would go into 4 hi. Then I drove forward and it would finally engage 2wd. Now when I try to put it into 4 low the alarm beeps and the 4lo light flashes. 4hi works perfectly! But 4 low will not go!??? Anyone know what this is or had a simular issue?

I miss the old 4x4 stick shift levers!!!

 

Are you at a complete dead stop when you try to shift? and put the truck into neutral while stopped. So 4lo= in neutral and completely stopped. Try that

 

Yes, dead stopped. I never shift into low while rolling.

 

Hm interesting, and that is trying it while in neutral too correct?

I have an auto trans and sometimes have trouble going into 4lo. I am stopped, in neutral, foot on brake it keeps beeping.

I usually, drive forward a little and try it again. Usually by the 3rd time it stops beeping and goes into 4LO.

I have to bury that clutch and it's still slow to get it in/out lo-range, but it always does.

 

AH! Im supposed to press the clutch in? I don't remember having to that on my 1999 4runner, but then again maybe I was, or is it different? I will try pressing in the clutch then try driving forward a bit, I really don't trust electronic 4x4 engagement!

 

Yea, make sure that clutch is pushed all the way to the floor. It really helps.

 

Ya, I am going to try that for sure. I don't know why I never tried that, maybe I did and didn't realize it. I feel like fool! Ive had several 4x4 vehicles (4 runners and Pathfinders) all with manual tranny's and never hadt his issue! But the were manual transfers cases.

 

Make sure it's pushed all the way down before you switch to 4-lo.

 

Naw. I had a tow truck coming from the dealer once when I couldn't get my old Blazer out of park. I forgot to push the brake.

 

Stop. Put it in neutral. Open the glove box. Pull out the manual and read it.
Then push the clutch aaaall the way in and get that beast back into normal driving conditions.

 

does the little green 4hi light stop flashing? if not, then im guessing somethings wrong with the accuator.

 

Tried it today with pressing the clutch pedal through the firewall and it engaged no problem! Came out of 4 low just as easy. Just seems a bit finicky. But im glad it works.
