2007 leaf spring issue

I have an 07 crew cab 4x4 with a fiberglass Snugtop shell on the back. The rear leaf springs are so soft that every time I go over a bump, the springs bottom out. Money is tight and I am looking for otions to beef up the rear springs. What is my better option, new rear leaf packs or an add a leaf? The current spring configuration is a 2/1 spring pack. Any thoughts would be helpfull.

 

AALs tend to be cheaper, but (generally) a new spring pack would last longer.

I also have the 07 crew cab with a snugtop and my leafpack was also weak . So i just added the aal and it raised my truck almost 2 inches and it doesn't hit on the bump stops anymore. Worked out just fine for me.

 

What brand did you buy?

 

wheeler or toytec AALs are cheap and work well

Nope your stock ones will work

 

Be sure to torque the leafs down to 73 ft/lbs. I solved most of my rear suspension problems just by doing that.

 

^^If you want to stay at stock height, or close to it, I'd talk to this guy or go with air bags.

Throwing an AAL into an already tired leaf pack is just a band aid. In a couple years, you'll be looking for another fix.
