Hood scoop mod

Has anyone done a mod to their hood scoop to make it an actual functional scoop?

 

someone on here did it.. i dont know where the thread is though

 

staticfilter has a truck that someone made the hood scoop functional. The pressure in that area of the truck isn't right for forced air intake though.

 

There is NO way you can get a benefit from it. The way it is positioned on the truck, you would have to suck air in, which defeats the purpose

I know there's a LOT of wind caught by the scoop. You can hear it pushing the wind when driving down the hiway on a windy day. I wonder how much the mpg, or aerodynamics, would change with out it?

 

you'd be surprise man. The scoop wouldn't do anything for forced air intake....i promise you. The truck creates a jetstream that would make contact with the mid to lower window. This airstream wouldn't come near the hood scoop

 

Uh, chris, i can honestly say I have never tried to blown water off my truck...if you like blowing things, whatever floats your boat!

 

Not enough time.
When I hear the wind hitting the scoop I can see the hood flexing. That wouldn't happen if it was the windsheild.

 

Couldn't the hood flex due to the wind hitting the front of the hood. Or maybe making its way under the hood?

After it rains and you drive your truck to dry it off, water is still left in the hood scoop area. Which makes me think air isn't hitting it.

But I don't really know for sure. I was just making a statement.

 

I thought about doing this, but went another direction.

 

That looks pretty cool. Any benefit from it? Is that Rayzian's (sp?) Truck?

 

I wouldn't argue with Chris. It'll only make him angry...and you wouldn't like him when he's angry...

He's done the reasearch, and the scoop is only for show. I remember there being diagrams in another thread illustrating how the air flowed over the truck. Maybe someone else can find it, the phone won't let me cut and paste.

 

The last post wasn't talking about a scoop mod. I was talking about the amount of air that the scoop catches while going down the hiway. On a strong gust I can hear the wind being caught by the scoop and will see the hood "flutter" from the amount of air caught.

Not trying to argue...just disagreeing.

 

I bet that's Coupe's truck...
