I and another thing spend the money and get a auto darking helmet. Worth every penny. Long welding gloves and a wire brush.

If you have the money mig is worth it, but research everything and see how much it will cost you to run each maching. Stick welding you got electrodes and stinger. Mig you got gas, wire, mig gun, cup, insulator, and a tip.

Let me know if Missed anything Haha

I am in the mountains just about everyday since I work all of east tn report to Sevierville. Yes that would be aluminum and stainless steel. The harbor feight ones are ok for beginning but to do thick stuff I would watch. Also you have to think about 220 or 110 my little flux core is a 20 amp 110.

u wouldnt want to get a 220 for ur house. Most houses r 120 so starting out ur main feed wouldnt be able to run it. Then if u really wanted it, u would have to pull a new feed to ur house, mount a new panel, and run a circuit for it. Thats a lot of money and time for something that u dont "need".

    This is the welder i use . . . .
    http://www.hobartwelders.com/products/wirefeed/handler140/
runs on 120v with a max load of 20A so a normal garage circuit should be able to hold it fine, worse case scenario is u upgrade to a 30A breaker for that circuit. But i love this welder so far and have used it on 1/4" and as stated it does really well

Hate to pop your bubble but ALL houses are 220. And most new houses are 200 amp panel. Ex. Hot water heater stove dryer are all 220 the 120 is on both sides of the panel and double breakers are what give items the 2 legs of 110 to make 220. Any welder will work at a house except 3 phase. But for most welding done at a home a 120 welder will take 20 amp which your outlets in your garage are rated at 15 amp. How do I know all this I have over 200,000 Christmas lights on my house each year. With 2-200 amp panels. And part time electrician.

yeah. also idk if you have the factory mounts under the weather stripping???

but if you do we could just use those. either way we could make it removable, i was thinking maybe a bed rack for you. maybe something like box rocket has? not to high and not to low, keeping most the stuff behind the roof line= less drag and better MPG.

find out if you have mounds from the factory, if not find someone that has done a roof rack on the extended cab and how did they mount it. if nothing els we could find a way to safely mount it. i’m doing roof rack to mostly to mounts lights on, i’l prob only but stuff on it ike once or twice a year. but it’s one of those things i’d rather have it and not need it, than need it and not have it. after that i’m going to start working on a trailer like colinB17’s

yeah. thanks! and yeah i know. and any ways i’m not going to make this a full time job. maybe just stuff on the side. stuff for my self. i think as a real job i’m going to look at being a wildlife officer. but not 100% sure. only about 80% sure.

also if i don’t buy one, i don’t ever see me learning and getting good. i know some of my cousins and uncles in NY have welders. but they are 12 hours a way. i only go up for like a week maybe 2 weeks out of a year. so i could maybe learn by welding 1 or 2 things, but i would not retain what i learned.
