    I kind of like the idea of breaking a person's hand if they get caught stealing. It isn't permanent and it gives them something to think about.

    Yeah we caught him but we can't touch him, a lawsuit would be worse than letting the drills walk out according to lowes but in this case I had so much info on the guy (height,build, scars, etc) to file a report so lowes will probably follow through with the police.

    My Mom works as Lowe's and has said the same thing before. The company prefers that they just get a good description and file a report. It is cheaper than a possible lawsuit and any medical bills that might be incurred from a fight.

    All I could do is recover the drills and basically just let him walk out of the store, at least now we have a good report and car description, the idiot went under the lumber canopy which is monitored by cameras.
