First line tells you where it was made. Second line says what month it was born. :)

Interesting, so the stock Dunlops are only specified for 30 psi? Didn't know that before.

I believe the manufacturer (Duncrap) spec higher, but Toyota recommends 30psi. I had them on my 2010.

the 17" Bridgestones on my 2012 are spec at 42 max psi, but Toyota suggests 29psi.

The max pressure printed on the sidewall is meant for loading up to the tire's max weight capacity (often exceeding the truck's GVWR). If you are driving with no payload, running at max sidewall pressure would result in uneven wear and poor handling (though your gas milage will be great).

Remember that there is a big difference between NUMMI and San Antonio.

NUMMI was a union plant, joint venture with GM and doomed from the start. San Antonio is a NON-union plant, as is MX. Aside from early growing pains, San Antonio ships very high build quality.

The big difference between vehicle plants that causes higher or lower build quality is worker incentive. Unions reduce incentive, hence reduce build quality. Whether it is located in the US or in Mexico makes no difference. As long as the workers are enticed to take pride in their workmanship, the result will predictably be great.

You must be one of two things.

1.) Super rich bastard that owns huge companies that you don't want to become union.

2.) Dumbass that works 12 hours a day, 7 days a week for dogshit pay and is jealous.

oh gosh. union pay is cool, but who can afford it? there is a rep that follows our sheetmetal guys around trying to get them to join. i dont work sheetmetal but when he asked me, my only response was, "so if i joined you guys, i would start as an apprentice?"

    "yep"

"right on, so when i wanna use my welding skills to get some overtime on the weekends can i do that"

"no, you can only work your trade."

"so theres no opportunity to make extra money for those of us that want to work for it?"

    ". . . . "

"so no reason for me to acquire extra skills"

    "no"

"no thanks then, i prefer to let my skillset do my negotiating in pay-rate, rather than somebody who takes a portion of my check to do it for me. Also, since the government doesn't have any money, and the only jobs you guys are competitive on is jobs that they put through, (not too competitive though as we're here and your guys aren't) i would prefer to make some dough while you guys sit at home. thanks for the offer though, and keep on bashing private industry. looks like its doing well for ya"

Only issues I've encountered with the trucks from Mexico is the forward most rear brake line that mounts to the bracket on frame rail, seems during manuf. that they torqued the brake hard line so much that it pushed the edge of the flaired end to double back on its self becoming a thread & just makes loosening almost impossible & re tightening quite impossible

I was reading this thread and thinking almost the same thoughts.

Mine is a 2012 the sticker inside the drivers door says "Made in USA".
I was very happy to see it, doing my part to help our economy,
but in truth I'd have bought it anyway if it where made in Mexico.

For the Tacoma, I traded in a 99 F-150 w/ only 85,000 miles on it, when I bought it only had 73,000 miles . I can assure you the Ford was made in the USA.
I was putting $200 a month in repairs just to keep the Ford on the road.
I can tell you with no hesitation, the Toyota is far superior in build quality.
I'm like most folks, I want to buy American, from American companies whenever it's an option. But after 2 years of non-stop repairs, I'm not sure I'll EVER buy another "American" car.

In my long winged way---I'm saying, I'm not sure if a matters who builds it.
It does matter who DESIGNS it.
