quick question. i know 5% tint is illegal on cars but suv&trucks can run them in the rear. for all of you with 5% all around how many times did you get pulled over for tint? See alot of suv's and trucks pass by cops and they dont do anything. Just wondering, getting my tacoma in a few weeks and i want to tint all around but if its a hassle then ill just stay legal. had my fair share with recon and tint when i had my car. Dont want deal with this BS again. Btw sorry if this is already posted somewhere. new to TW.

Howzit Brah. I notice cops really don't bother with trucks too much. i get 5% in the back and legal up front on my truck. I had choke tickets when I had my Integra. Used to always get pulled over by my job not once did they bother me with my truck. The only thing I would say is sometimes hard for see out the back Windows at night. My girlfriend get mad cause she no can see lol...just one fyi. Shoots Brah. Good luck and congrats on the New truck.

Not worth it. I think its like $250.00 PER front door and $500.00 for front windshield If you get caught. Not to mention $100.00 a year for safty check.

Ive had limo tint for years 7 years and have only been pulled over for it twice. Both times I was in the Northern part of Arizona on a highway, where there is nobody at all... Im sure the cops were bored and had nothing to do so they pulled me over cause of the tint.

Now whenever i see a cop i roll down the window just to be safe, but being in a big city i think most cops have better things to do.

I did 15% all around. Rear windows are 15% from the factory, so another 15% on top makes is about 5% in average. Its plenty dark enough inside and out. Nobody can see in hardly and at night its hard to see out. Never been stopped in my truck in over 3 years. The car I had before though.... 9 tickets in 3 years all for BS reasons like tint and crap and it was a simple crappy Chevy Malibu :what: something about these trucks that don't typically attract much attention. Also been through a checkpoint. I rolled all 4 windows down. After talking to officer, he asked "if I ask you to roll this window up and I'm going to see tint on it?" My reply was "yes sir" and he said "thanks for your honesty... Make sure you get that removed, its not legal in CA" reply "will do officer thank you!" Honesty and respect go a very long ways with police. Not to say it's a guarantee, but it helps.

Nobody gets stopped just for tint. Tint is only 1 of 2 things during a traffic stop:
1- PC (probable cause) to stop you in the first place to investigate a different suspicion.
2- the ticket you get when your an ass to the officer and now he writes you up for every single violation he can find just cause he can.

I'd say 15-35% is fine. Respect the police and they will respect you. Don't drive like an idiot and you won't give them a good reason to get stop you. Simple

You don't really get bothered unless they can't see your silhouette. With 35, they can see you clearly, 20 and they can see your silhouette, but with 5 its very hard to see you and they definitely know that it is ilegal. It also depends on the color of your interior. If you have a light color interior, it reflects light back out of the truck, making the tint seem lighter than it really is.
Since mine came with privacy glass on the rear doors and back glass, I wanted to try to match the front and rear doors. So I went with 20% on the front, 35% over the privacy glass on the rear doors, and 5% on the back, over the privacy glass. Its got a reverse camera so no biggie. I also put tint on the windshield, its mainly for UV protection, It like 80-90% so its negligible.
So I'd say get 20%. Still illegal but you can get away with it. Don't get 5% unless you have friends to call. Its not worth getting pulled over for tint and end up with other tickets, a DUI, or pulled in for your warrants!

If you have warrants, you should take care of them. And you shouldn't be worried about a DUI unless your driving drunk, in which case your a worthless piece of shit who deserves lots and lots of tickets and jail time anyway. For those who have had a DUI, don't take that statement personal, but its true so hate me if you want. Anyone willing to kill themselves and others because they were too stupid or cheap to get a cab just doesn't deserve to drive.
