Problems with my 2012 Tacoma Access Cab 2 Wheel Drive:
Shutter in driveline about 8' after nomal take-off.
Heater won't shut off completely. Always delivers heated air unless A/C engaged.
Cannot read radio in daylight. Reflection on readout because radio is tilted up.
Four trips to dealer. Factory Rep. says normal.
    Any suggestions?

I'm also Bay Area, took mine to Toyota 101, then Putnam. Toyota USA claims all the problems with mine (aside from window rattle when down more than 1") are now "normal" although when they originally looked at things Toyota USA acknowledged the hit list as "problems".
I have the drive line shake (they originally found the drive shaft center bearing installed incorrectly and no grease in the drive shaft). My transmission also won't engage 1st gear frequently, and grinds in 1st and second predictably.

What dealer have you been going to?

The "factory reps" are pawns, these guys know the deal and are Toyota's front line against spending on recalls and admitting fault.

btw, re: the heater being always on, Toyota's so cheap they (like other Japanese manufacturers) make you both turn the fan off, and put the air vents setting to recirculation setting for the inbound air to be cut off. In normal higher grade vehicles (ze Germans), just turning the fan setting to 0 would usually shut the vents or you have vent control independent of the recirc or fresh air option to choose your air options and control temps & humidity better. Wait until cold winter, then it will feel like the AC is always on unless you use recirc to shut the system off.

Vibration @ 20 mph on deceleration driveline or wheels out of balance, front pads rattle installed second anti rattle spring better but will still make noise.

I've actually always liked this feature, it's nice to still be able to get fresh air vented in even when the fans aren't running...or maybe I've just always owned Toyotas and am too used to it to know any better!

    Austin and others,
thanks for your responses. I don't think I made the heater problem clear. At the lowest temp setting without A/C on, I should be getting outside air coming in. Not heated or cooled. What I get is air 15-25 degrees warmer then the out side air coming in. I've been told that there is no heater control valve, just air-blend doors in this system. It appears that an air-blend door is not closing off heated air completely. That's what the foreman at Piercy Toyota thought. The real problem is that I keep getting "could not duplicate" from the technicians and factory reps. I even left a temp gauge in the air vent for them.
As far our local dealers go, Toyota 101 where I bought the car seems to be OK but the place is such a dump and so crowded that I feel the chance for getting my car damaged there while in for service is too high.
Piercy appears to be well organized and runs fairly smoothly. The service manager, Kevin, and shop foreman, Ron, are knowegable and easy to work with. Service advisor, Kelly, is outstanding and the reason I go there. The technicians seem to be too quick to say "could not duplicate" and not follow up on problems.
    Mike

11 months and 7700 miles no problems other than the annoying shift habits of the auto. The truck under light throttle reaches top gear and tq convertor lockup at 40mph causing occasional surging. The fix is to accelerate firmly through 40mph avoiding tq lockup at low speed.

2012 TRD Sport 4 months and 8,000 miles.

The car wash keeps blasting the rubber strip in the rain gutter on the roof out. And my speakers blew the day I got the truck.

So far, after 3000 miles, no problems. However, my truck was delivered with an incorrectly seated windshield gasket. On the passenger side, the lower corner of the A pillar, the rubber gasket juts out and does not make the bend. So far I have not detected any water leakage but I will say something when I go in for the 1st service.

Just noticed the same thing today on the drivers side

Edit: Went in for an oil change today and complained about the windshield seal. Apparently they want to replace the entire windshield ($1000) under warranty but then I'll have to have the tint strip up top redone which I'm not happy about.

9 months and 11k miles with no problems. I have replaced the factory mudflaps cause they hit the ground too easy and I do miss having heated mirrors but otherwise I am happy.

My truck turns 1 tomorrow - it's born on date is 9/28/11.

18,000 miles; 1200 of them offroad or minimally maintained trails.

The only problem I've had is that I've seperated the 7pin connector from the rear bumper.

    This truck is amazing.
