Did u get any ride height out of the tsb because currently I have a aal and a 4 inch block and I know Toyota won't install a aal in the new spring but I'm worried about getting my truck home due to my 37s.

Sisler, TB good to see you on here.

I just got off the phone with 2 Toyota service reps. On named William who I think was in India told me that I would have to pay for. He tried to explain to me what a TSB was. The conversation deteriorated in a hurry from there. Keep searching this forum and you will find the TSB. I called because I have 2WD and there is a revision on the TSB that I printed (not the latest) that says 4WD only but it is confusing because it says 4WD and Prerunner. I called back and got someone a little more smypathetic to my problems.

Made a appointment to get my TSB done on my 2010 Tacoma, TRD. They tried to talk me out of it at the dealership saying it was not needed but I still requested that it be done. My 2010 is my 7th toyota, and it is by far the weakest ride off road of any I have owned!! Texas Bill,,,get you butt back to the mts of WV and come deer hunting this Nov!! best js

Mine is done and the ride is much better.

The TSB that I read is a little confusing because it says 4x4s only. It is actaully all Prerunners & 4x4s I believe or at least all access and 2x cabs. I called Toyota for clarification and the first rep I talked to was a total jerk. He tried to explain that a TSB was not a recall and Toyota would not pay for it. I told him that I dang well knew the difference and that paying was their choice just like the brand of vehicle I drive is mine. I hung up and got a much better rep.

Talked to the Toyota Customer Help Line again, Told them I have started paperwork for a complaint with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. This is the process that needs to be taken, when recalls are issued. Their Engineers look into the problem, which in this case is the weak suspension springs for me. Toyota says the reason there is no recall issued by Them, is because there's no history of a real problem reported to them by dealers. I told the guy to read some forums, most people get hasseled at the dealership, even if they are in warranty. Too funny. I'm out of warranty, but my springs didn't magically fix themselves at 3/36. lol It was already out of warranty when I got it from a guy that drove it as a car. Any complaints? The process is long, but Contact the NHTSA. They'll send you the report you put in, in about 4-6 weeks. Sign it and they take over. I wouldn't call for just anything, but this seems to be an issue that not only I'm having, but many people, on many different forums. This is how recalls get issued.

I don't mind the pedal being cut. I can't really even notice a difference. I originally told them I just wanted the computer flash done which has made a world of difference when it downshifts going through an intersection. The dealer told me the recall was an "all or none" recall, meaning they would not do the computer flash without doing the pedal. I think as long as they inform people of what they are going to do, then no big deal. IMO.

I have an appt tomorrow so they can inspect my 2011 DC TRD OR springs and order the4 pack. I am not sure I want to go through with it. I just towed my 4500 lb. wakeboard boat for 5 hours on mountain roads and interstate 5. I had no issues at all with the springs other than the sag when I hooked it up. Get the tsb or not?

I'd say go for it. You'll gain some height in the back (I believe 1/2 an inch) and why not if it's free?

What do you have to do at the dealer to get them to order the TSB leafs?

I need to take my truck in for it's 5k service anyway, so I might as well.

Here's how I approached it: First, I made sure I had a copy of the TSB in the glove box. Then, when I went in for the 5k service I mentioned that I was having problems with the truck sagging in the rear when loaded and the ride was very "HARSH!" (be sure to use this key word). They said they would check it out.

When they brought it back, they said they checked it and didn't find anything out of spec with the rear suspension, and they also said that they didn't know of any TSB's or recalls on the issue. So, I told them that I had a TSB in the truck and asked if they would like to see it, to which they responded "yes". So, I showed them the TSB and they took it and asked could they make a copy of it for the Service Manager. I said sure. Then, they brought me the TSB back and said that they would be in touch, so I left.

30 minutes later, they called me on my cell phone and asked when I could bring the truck back in to do the TSB. I came back the next day and got it installed--no questions asked.

    Hope that helps.

Just dropped mine off to have it inspected. They did it while I waited, had the springs in stock and started working on it immediately. I am hoping it isn't too stiff. The service manager said he has not had anyone come back complaining that it is too stiff. Would I get a "smoother" ride if I replaced the Trd Bilsteins with5100s?

It'll ride a lot better with the 5100's, especially on bumpy dirt roads. Truck feels much more stable, holds the road much better.

F'ing love the tsb and what it did! I was worried to harsh and would rake it. Neither! Great ride and is even more level. I have the 2.5" pro comp spacer

I have a 4x2 DC TRD PreRunner. I think I'm going to leave it be as: 1) I mostly use it like the trunk of a car, and 2) I like the way it rides. The Bilsteins really keep the rubber on the road.

    Hi Folks,

I'm a newbie here. However, I have been scouring the various posts to educate myself before buying a Tacoma.

Four days ago I bought a 2010 regular cab with the 4 banger engine and only 15K miles on it. I just love it. First trip (250 miles) it got 27 miles to the gallon!

I am quite interested in the leaf spring recall mentioned here since I will be pulling a utility trailer with a loaded gross weight of about 2500 lbs, and I certainly don't wish to deal with sagging problems.

    I have two questions:

    1. Is the leaf spring change-out available for the regular cab like mine?
    2. Do any of you know the Toyota recall number associated with this issue?

My local Toyota dealer (service dept.) knows nothing of this issue.

I will certainly appreciate any help or enlightenment you may provide.

    THANKS!!!:)
