Well guys, I was out riding my mountain bike with a couple buddies and got back to my truck and there was a red ext cab Tacoma 4x4 parked next to mine that was lifted with some wheels and tires. Looked pretty sweet.. anyways dude that owned it came back out from the park back to his truck and we started talking about our trucks... right. We were talking about our lifts and he had spacers up front and air bags in the rear, he was an older guy too, like in his 50's, so then he asks me if I had a 4-cyl, I was like " yeah, the regular cabs only come with 4-cyl", then he said "Check this out" and opened his hood. He had his 4-cyl turbocharged and had a intercooler. It was pretty sweet! Wish I'd had my phone so I could've taken a picture of it. He said he ran it with about 6.5- 7 psi, so not much, not enough to put strain on anything or damage drivetrain. He said he run about 40k miles with his setup with very little minor problems and he gets about 24 mpg and he was running same size tire as me. I found it pretty cool and thought you all might too. Again, sorry for no pictures.

Edit- I forgot to include he said he had it dyno'ed and he has 220hp and about 300tq at the rear wheels.

Yeah I agree. The torque is nicer though. No more down shifting or riding the clutch out of first gear when towing. For a 4400 pound truck thats plenty of torque for anything that truck could handle without breaking something else

Yeah, I'm back in town, had fun out there in Colorado... and yeah I saw him at Shelby Farms by the dog park off Trinity. Cool guy, he said he could've saved some money after the fact on some parts he ended up not using. He also said he went with a bigger intercooler than planned. I wouldn't mind piecing together a kit for myself. I use to run with most of the guys that did the work on it. Its just enough power to help us 4-cyl out and not too much that it would be breaking or stressing drivetrain out.

Sorry about the sudden topic change but does anyone else get crap for having a v6? Or not having a Ford or Chevy? I've just been gettin it lately from a couple of buddies on how my v6 doesn't sound that good (it doesn't have that low, deep growl).

yeah. i get why the hell you get a jap crap and shit. some shut up when i open door and show it was built in the USA. :D and some of the parts that did not come from japan or china.

yeah i hate the ’01 at ’11 f 150s. my friends dad had one. well we took it to petsmart. and it told us how far we have on a tank. about every 1/4 mile or so it dropped like 3 to 5 miles, lol speed was 60 the hole way their and back. used more than 2x as much gas as i do, in the taco doing 70 to pet smart and back.

Not to deter you from your topic, again, fellas but I'm proud to show off something new I bought. Now all I need to do is dress it up and a gun show this weekend in Memphis at the agricenter will help out.

It's the engine....it's that little somethin about a v8 that "makes a truck, a truck". I don't know, i guess kind of the power thing as well.

do i wish my truck had a v8 that put out over 300 horses? sure. hell, do i wish i had a fullsize truck in general? sometimes. but in reality, this is perfect for what i use it for/need at the moment. if i need something bigger later on in life, thats what ill get. and honestly here at college, i've gotten so many compliments on my truck, because most people (sensible people) understand the value of a toyota truck and understand that its just as good of a vehicle as any fullsize, unless you need to tow with it. other than that, my truck definitely is comprable to most halftons, and forget it off road. i've been down trails that most bigger trucks (even second gens) could only dream of going down.
