So I am about to buy a 20" LED light bar and 2 Duallys which is near a grand in lighting.

Any recommendations on making them hard to steal? I don't see LED lights much and you have to believe that folks that steal things know that they are pricey.

Thoughts & recommendations appreciated. I know I can use Loctite to make the mounting bolts impossible to remove but I may want to take them off some day so I want 'permanent' mounting not "PERMANENT" mounting ;-)

    Thx

We offer a Security Nut Kit for the E and SR Series Light bars. Any one of our dealers should have them in stock or they can be purchased on our website. As for the Duallys depending on their location you can double nylock them making it more difficult to dismount them. If you have any other question feel free to ask or you can call the office anytime and we would be glad to help you out.

these work very well. you tighten them down like any other nut/bolt, but when you reach the specified torque, the hex portion snaps off, leaving a cone shaped nut. chanel locks, vise grips, etc will not get them off. you have to grind them off. it's a quick job grinding them off at home if you need to remove the bar, but it'll stop a theif in the middle of a parking lot.

try after try, when you try to clamp the vise grips, they just slide right up the cone. key is using a hard allow that the vise grips can't dig into. i've tried myself with about 5 different pairs of grips and pliers. no luck.

i'm sure they'd grab one like the top left of the link, but that's why you use the steeper sloped ones, like the one just below it.

I had enough thread so I welded the bottom of the stud so someone could back the nut off but no possibility of taking the nut completely to remove the light.

If someone really wants them, they're going to get them... They can either break the bolt or cut the bolt regardless of what you do. Personally, I'd use threadlocker red. With a little heat, threadlocker can be broken and the nut can be removed. Without the use of heat, you might break the bolt before the threadlocker lets go. The point is, threadlocker is easy and NOT permanent, at least not threadlocker red or blue...
