It's worth it. I always feel off center when wearing my running shoes. Are you going to start the workout Nelson linked? I started today and I'm already sore, but I also haven't worked out in 2 years.

    I suppose I shouldnt care. Is barefoot>flats?

Yeah im going to start next week. Its very similar to what i was doing before (stronglifts 5x5) but this incorporates more isolation/body building moves. Should be fun.

How many sets did you do for each workout?

I did the recommended sets on the workout plan. You can print off sheets of the workout to take with you. It was a good workout and nice to have it all laid out.

you shouldn't be doing oly lifts in running shoes. they're too unstable and that's not what they're made for

yes, barefoot is best for doing heavy oly lifting, but chances are your gym won't let you workout with your shoes off. if you're lifting on a traditional wood platform then barefoot is not a good idea because it would be too slippery, therefore you would need oly shoes. look into picking up a pair of minimalist shoes or some vibram five fingers to wear for your weight training

Five fingers. Absolutely the most comfortable shoe. I lift in them 5 days a week plus cardio on those days as well. I can and have ran in them. Once I got the mid foot gate down I went to running shoes for my twice a week runs.

I'm with you on this one man. Happens to me occasionally. It either means that I've been over-doing it, doing certain exercises too often, or not eating enough. For me, its mainly the eating thing though

What is the benefit of achieving a midfoot gate? Does it build thickness in the arch or help your legs? Never heard of this as a goal, just curious.

For me, yes. But like Matt said, a lot of gyms frown upon people taking their shoes off.

Haha. Yep. Board shorts and Underarmour shirts. They hide my ass sweat.:D

But is it enforced? I have been to two different 24 hour fitness gyms that require closed toe shoes, and have seen people in flip flops. I really wish they'd drop a fucking dumbbell on their toes and learn a damn lesson in common sense.

I've never seen anyone else take their shoes off at my Gold's. Since that picture, I have been sporting Chuck Taylors.

No chalk is also not permitted at 24....but I've never seen it enforced. I think they only post said policies to cover themselves.
