I ordered mine within 1.5 hours of the opening pre order. As of Friday never got a shipping date. Called AT&T cancelled pre order walked into store and got two phones. Should have never wasted my time waking up in the middle of the night.

    I have a question

My mother bough an iphone and I know she will leave apps open and then forget. is there any way to turn off internet data connection?

I know on my android I can turn it off and only connect to the internet using wifi. I looked some stuff up on the internet and that was no help. I am also 200 miles away or I would tinker with her phone my self :p

Let me first say that open apps will not use data in the background, Apple puts a limit on how long an app can use data while in the background and at that only for specific tasks. I believe that limit is only like 5-10 minutes max. So really there is no worry about data drain in the background.

    To answer your question:
    Settings > General > Cellular
There you can turn off cellular data, 3G/LTE, and data roaming.

If leave an app thats connected to the internet open it will still use data, at least on android :p unless you get a task killer. Turning it off is a fail safe though

Thanks to both of you though!

Will she be able to still make calls and text and stuff?

teach her about using the home button. double click it twice and everything that is open will show up in the bottom. click all the little red "-" buttons on the icons and they will close.

I definitely recommend a Lifeproof case. Mine actually broke a couple days ago. I sent them an email and they replied back saying they coudln't find my "extended warranty validation" so they sent the link to extend it and are apparently sending me another one. The one I had was black, but asked them to send a red one this time...we'll see how that goes.

Always had an "OtterBox" case. Do you guys like the "Lifeproof" case better? ...

You guys gave me an idea on a "bright case" ... it stands out and is easier to find in the grass or in the darkness. ... :D

I had an otterbox, then went with a Lifeproof. I like the Lifeproof much better. Thinner, lighter, waterproof.

They finally got back to me on my broken case and even though I just extended my warranty yesterday, they're gonna send me out a new front half of the case. Excellent customer service.

As far as the "Bright Case", they make several colors for the 4S, and I assume they'll do the same for the 5. I got black, which was a bad idea, considering if I drop it in the river (the reason I got the case) I can't see it on the bottom. I wanted them to send me a red one, but they're not. can't complain. It would have made it much easier to find, though.

I had an OtterBox on my 3S and that was a great case almost waterproof ... but the OtterBox for the 4S is not fully enclosed. So, I am open to all ideas on changing protective cases on a future iPhone 5 purchase.

Probably will wait 6 months to get the phone when my existing contract hits 20 months and I can upgrade. By then the iPhone protective case will perhaps be reviewed on cnet and by you guys on here.

I will buy a black phone and on the protective case color, international orange or bright red would be great.

Thanks to all for the ideas ... :D

Lifeproof also offers a "LifeJacket" that goes around the case for when you're on the water. It's bright orange and, of course, floats.
