Not too much but not too little either...

 

Looks good.. Just watch out for the police as they are busting people left and right all over for smoked tail lights.. Your's might be ok since its not super dark.

 

Thanks for the heads up. I kept them pretty light for that reason.
The new Cayenne has optional smoked tailights so it makes me wonder how can it be illegal.

One of my neighbors(not sure exactly where he lives) has a truck just like mine(same color,etc). A few days ago he drove past me and I was digging his smoked tailights.
Not too much, just enough..

 

From the factory they have to meet certain regulations... home job, or aftermarket probably not.

mine are pitch black and you can see the factory LEDS just fine.

i absolutely hate smoked lights, but this is looking pretty nice! I'd go a tad bit lighter for mine, but thats just me

 

But not from 600ft.

 

They look prefect, not too dark but way better than stock.
The only thing stopping me from doing it is thinking about some idiot not paying attention and slamming into me. And getting away with it saying they couldn't see the brake lights.
Not to many stand up folks anymore who actually own up a to their mistakes.

 

You should be fine, mine are the same shade and have not had an issue. Unless you put two trucks with the same lights next to each other you would not know they were tinted.

i love the look, but would never do it..brake lights are a safety item..

if i ever rear-end someone and they have smoked lights..i am gonna try to use it against them..try. figure it couldnt hurt..hail mary of sorts.

 

I agree in some cases but if you don't go too dark and if you have LED lights it is a whole different game. Some cars are now coming with tinted tailights from the factory. Like mine

 

+1. I don't want to give some moron an excuse to plow into the back of me. The look isn't so good it's worth taking chances. Besides, I have more important things to worry about then how my tail lights look. Since when did it all come down to looks any way? Look at me... ain't I the cool one with the tinted lights? haha
