fuel filter from h-e-double hockey sticks.

I just installed a new fuel filter on my 99 prerunner and let me just say, Holy $hit!

 

haha what did you experience?

 

mainly just the position of the darn thing, upper under the exhaust manifold and attached to the engine. had to go in threw the driver side wheel well just to access it. also the line on the back side of it was so tight that i broke it just loosening it.

 

yep, mine is like that too, pain in the ass!

 

really? mine is a 96, and its on the frame rail.

yours is tyhe v6....his is the 4cyl. v6 filters are easy to get to.

yeah the v6's are so easy. i changed mine at 100k for the first time and it was horribly dirty i dumped the fuel into a bottle and had like a centimeter of pure dirt (or whatever it is) in it.

 

mine has 127000. when i dumped it in a clear jug, the trash that came out of it was just startling, i don't see how engines can run w/o having the fuel filter changed every few thousand miles. it may be just wishful thinking, but i seem to notice some slight improvement in the way my truck is running.

 

its not wishful thinking man..........when a fuel filter starts getting full.......hard to flow the gas thru there. i guarantee you will get better mileage now.

 

dont worry..my old 89 4runner was on the engine block..I know your pain

 

when i changed my fuel filter at 46k miles......you shoulda seen the rust and shit coming outta there. it was crazy. i can imagine what it looks like at over 100k miles.

 

it looked like creek gravel sediment, i kid you not

 

Where is the fuel filter on a 2000 4 cyl taco prerunner?

 

it is located on the driver's side of the engine block, under the manifold.

 

i just replaced the one on my 96 2.7 thanks to the xtra clearance with my body lift it was really not that bad i took off my line goin out first then unbolted it from the block, fished it out to the top of the motor and unbolted the incoming line from there, and then put it back on the same way, will be puttin one on my 98 soon

 

how often are they supposed to be changed? anyone know where it is on an 04 v6?

 

i change mine every 15k miles. your filter is on the driver side near the frame rail. very easy to get to and change.
