2012 levelling questions.

hey everyone, im new on here, lots of good info! i have searched through a ton of threads about levelling and lifts but it's hard to find certain answers when you're scanning through pages and pages.

all i want to do is level the front of my 2012 tacoma.

How much does it need to be raised to make it level?

i have read all the good and bad, mostly bad by the looks of it, with the levelling kits and also a lot about the bilstein 5100s.

what would be better for my truck in the long run, the bilsteins up front with the stock springs or a spacer?

also, with the bilsteins, will they raise the front a bit without adjusting them? or do they have to be raised up to .85/1.75 etc?

im a little worried about having issues that will affect my warranty if i do too much of a lift.

im only putting 265/70/17 duratracs on so i don't need much of a lift.
plus i don't plan on doing any 4x4ing other then getting around in the winter.

any help or advice would be great, and i know there are a ton of threads about this but like i said, it's hard to find certain answers when you are looking through some many posts.

and im not a mechanic, so sorry if i sound like i don't have a clue.

Depending on your cab 5100s set at 1.75 should level it

will i be ok with everything stock at that setting? and im assuming you are saying that is the better option?

 

Better then spacers yes, ya that may still leave you a bit of rake but the 2.5 setting will be too high for sure

 

i would set to 1.75 but think you should get a rear tsb. I have 265/70/17 duratracs with no lift and it fits fine.

tsb? quick search shows it to be something with the leaf springs.

can you explain what exactly that is, why i would need them and what could happen if i don't?

hey jared, you wouldn't happen to have a pic of your truck with those tires would you?

 

You have a 2012 so you may have the "tsb" springs already. All they are is a 4 leaf pack rather then a 3, for the 2005+ trucks people would find a harsh ride or bottoming out with the leaf springs so Toyota put out a tsb (Toyota service bulletin) for them to fix the problem with "tsb" springs. You should have the 4 leaf pack.

People with the 3 leaf pack usually get them because they add a little extra height due to an extra leaf.

just checked and you are correct, i have the 4 leaf pack.

after some more searching around, it looks like a pretty good setup to do the 5100s all around with the fronts set to 1.75

Most likely the front needs to be raised 1.75". Measure your center hub to fender on both the front and back. The distance in the rear should be about 2" more. So raising the front 1.75" will make it perfectly level. 2.5" will be too much and look stupid.

I my opinion, just 5100s with the fronts raised 1.75"

They must be set to raise, if you leave then at 0, they will not raise the front

Will not impact your warranty. Just have it aligned after you put your 5100s.

thanks! your truck looks great. all you have done is the 5100s on stock springs with the fronts set at 1.75?
that's my plan, with duratrac 265/70/17 tires and mayhem riot 8010's 17x8 matte black.

 

check out my build. running billys in the front @ 1.75". sits level, looks great, rides very close to stock. also im running 265/75/16 Duratracs on Procomp 7089's

has anyone experienced any issues with re-alignment having the 5100's set and 1.75?

 

i told the guy at the shop i had my setup mounted and balanced to give it an alignment and when i came back he told me that he honestly didnt think it needed one. my tires are wearing nice and even and it rides very straight so i guess he was right.
