There are more NHL teams than there are viable destinations. The NHL made the mistake of leaving Canada, even Bettman realizes he cannot repeat the same mistake. The team that moves to Seattle will be the team that can't find a buyer to keep it where it is.
Once you build the arena you better send someone over to wax Bettman's carrot, because Quebec likely figures their ahead of you in line

Are there that many people that actually want to buy NHL teams? Seems like they always have a hard time finding buyers in these situations. But yeah they gotta move some clubs, SEA and QBC would make great destinations.

I suspect there aren't very many buyers. For the most part, I suspect owning an NHL franchise outside of New York or Ontario is ill advised(This is why Ballsilly wanted to move to Hamilton). Owning a NHL team is more about Ego than making money imo. These Billionairs are joining an exclusive club, when they buy a team.

Getting a group of investors seems tricky too. Nash has had trouble with their group and that was part of the blame for ATL. Although the NHL allowed ATL to pack and leave without any resistance compared to PHX.

Winnipeg was ready for a team. When Seattle and Quebec are ready, I think we will see teams move if they are still unsettled. If Atlanta would have had a buyer locally, Phoenix would be in Winnipeg right now.

In this week's issue of Sports Illustrated theres a good article on the lockout situation. It was written by a former owner of the Panthers. He says both sides need to make cuts, but ultimately Donald Fehr wanted this situation to happen to win the PR battle and gain some leverage. Its a good read.

    We eek out a profit.

"The Flyers have been in the top four among the NHL's 30 teams in attendance each of the past five seasons. The team's games are televised on the regional sports network CSN Philadelphia, and last season ratings rose 9%, the fifth-most in the league, to an average of 71,000 households per game."
