Yeah I remember that, but I think he is always carrying a shit ton of tools and parts on him, or at least he was when he weighed himself I think.

Why would Toyota lie about the curb weight of their vehicles? or is skew a better word than lie:D haha

The 2013's are listed as weighing 4200lbs.

My dad works at a mining company and they have a scale that they weigh the loaded trucks with. It was zeroed out when I got on it and it measures in increments of 20lbs.

Till we do a big winter trip in da snow

Plus you are not on a skinny tire. 10.5s aren skinny IMO. they are stock. 10" and under is skinny

All about speed at that depth. Trick is to not stop moving otherwise you'll be screwed.

Sure it does! Just takes a little customization...haha

My secret in the snow has always been go slow and pack it down. Back and forth until its packed down and keep pushing on. But in the really deep stuff, yeah speed is key.

I was headed home Xmas morning just to my parents house on the outskirts of McCall. The wind caused some gnarly drifts, but the only thing that I could see for a "road" in front of me were the reflectors since the drifts filled the roads and made the edges/sides of the roads disappear! It was crazy! My dad couldn't get to me with his 1/2 ton Dodge p-up, and I actually had to get pulled out by the 18-ton snowplow (which he only did because it was Xmas, and I was pretty much in his way)! ha ha

For you, or anyone else who wants to know, it really has a lot to do with snow condition (wet or fluffy), your tire pressure (as stated earlier), your speed (on top of the snow), weight of p-up and accessories (as stated earlier), etc, etc, etc! I've been driving on snowy roads my whole life, so I make it fun and actually do a lot of "controlled" drifting and power sliding corners with my truck in the winter, so i think instinct plays a big roll, too, when you have to know what it feels like and know what to do when you start to slide and whatnot! It's a ton of fun IMO! :D

Well shit... I was thinking about just getting a 48" hilift, but looks like that might not cut it in some circumstances, like if you were stuck lifting in a hole, or I get taller tires and such...
The guy is running stock leafs with an AAL (not sure what size, typically they are 2") and he has 285/70R17 (but he said they measured 33.5" That's almost an inch taller than they are supposed to be) and he is lifting from a high clearance bumper. I don't think that makes him more than a few inches taller than me and the rear tire isn't even off the ground yet!

Yeah... My bed is 60" x 60" so the toolbox and the bed extender pretty much fuck up putting a 60" hi-lift anywhere in there... I was just going to throw a 48" in the toolbox. haha

If I am on level ground yes. but what happens when I get taller tires, more lift in the rear and a rear bumper and then add in some sandy dunes or uneven mountain trail or something to the mix, cuz you know that when you get that flat tire or whatever Murphy's law will be there and you will have to stick your jack in a hole. haha

I was reading up on it and I guess it has been pretty common that people have had problems with running out of jack on the 48" hi-lift.

Yeah, one catch is that your sliders are a lower lift point than your bumpers, but your lift point will vary based on your circumstance.

I'll just have to get a rear tire gate bumper and mount the hi-lift to that I guess.

My 60" Xtreme hi-lift jack fits perfectly inside my toolbox! Just made a few cutouts to lay it in, and now that thing is locked up and safe! :) Best spot for a jack, IMO, since it stays out of the rain/mud/snow, and is super easy to get to when needed, and isn't out in the open for a thief to see.

Agreed. I had mine mounted outside like everyone else but it always took half a can of wd-40 to get it working. These things are dangerous enough when they're clean let alone when dirty pins are hanging up.
